Law Enforcement Risk Review
The Law Enforcement Risk Review process includes a policy review and comprehensive agency site-evaluation, designed to validate that policies and practices are meeting the recommended best practices. As changes are needed during the review, recommendations are simply made and the time given for the needed changes to take effect.
The North Carolina League of Municipalities’ Shield Services program is proud to collaborate with the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police (NCACP) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) as we work to advance modern, effective policing. Through its innovative, risk-based approach, the Risk-Review provides agencies with the tools and strategies necessary to implement best practices, minimize operational risks, and build community trust.
This work directly supports the IACP’s Trust Building Campaign, which focuses on transparency, accountability, and partnerships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Similarly, it aligns with the NCACP.org mission to improve professionalism, leadership, and risk reduction in police departments throughout North Carolina.
The League appreciates the ongoing partnership and support from both NCACP and IACP. Their collaboration highlights a shared dedication to modernizing policing, protecting officers and communities, and creating a more resilient future for law enforcement.
The reward is knowing that our police department and officers are protected by having really strong and sound policies and procedures. I would absolutely recommend any department to go through the Risk Review preocess. I am absolutely satisfied and impressed with the League and Chief Anderson.
