Course Description:
Slower Is Faster – One Day Course
In high-risk moments on the street, an officer’s ability to stay calm, control the vehicle, and make the right decision can be the difference between safety and tragedy. This is the one-day version of the League’s well-known 2-day Slower Is Faster “train the trainer” course. It’s built on more than two decades of proven training used by police departments across North Carolina.
This dynamic one-day course has been used by the Hillsborough Police Department (HPD) since 2000. The HPD is partnering with the NCLM’s Shield Services to open half of the seats to League insured police departments. The one-day version streamlines the training to focus on the three critical skills at the root of most law-enforcement driving collisions: vision and hazard recognition, controlled braking, and maintaining composure under stress. Officers leave the course with tools they can apply immediately on patrol—skills that reduce crashes, protect the public, and save agencies money.
The only classroom time is a required on-line session that will take officers about one hour to complete. The training balances speed with safety, ensuring officers push their limits while learning how to recognize and manage overdriving before it becomes a liability.
For agencies, Slower Is Faster – One Day delivers results with minimal commitment. The program is scalable, logistically efficient, and tailored to the needs of modern policing. Whether your department wants to sharpen veteran officers, prepare new recruits, or reduce costly collisions, this course provides a high-impact solution in a single day.
