Treatment Plant Operator (Water Plant)

Description:
PERFORMS INTERMEDIATE TECHNICAL WORK IN THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF A TREATMENT PLANT, CONDUCTS REGULAR PLANT INSPECTIONS, RECORDS READINGS, AND PERFORMS PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE ON EQUIPMENT. WORK IS PERFORMED ON AN ASSIGNED OR ROTATING SHIFT. WORK INCLUDES MONITORING THE PLANT'S OPERATION THROUGH OBSERVATION, MECHANICAL READINGS, AND THE RESULTS OF STANDARD CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL TESTS, MAKING NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS IN THE PROCESS AS CONDITIONS OR TEST RESULTS DICTATE. OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE PERFORMING STANDARD LABORATORY DUTIES AND TESTS AND ASSISTING WITH PLANT AND FACILITIES MAINTENANCE. WORK ALSO INCLUDES SUBSTANTIAL RECORD KEEPING OF WORK ACTIVITIES. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY; VALID NC DRIVER'S LICENSE; MUST OBTAIN GRADE C WATER TREATMENT OPERATOR CERTIFICATION WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE. POSITION IS OPEN UNTIL FILLED. THE HIRING SALARY IS BASED ON LEVEL OF CERTIFICATION, AND AN ADDITIONAL SALARY INCENTIVE IS PROVIDED FOR YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE. THE CURRENT BASE PAY IS $33,582.69 (ENTRY LEVEL/NO CERTIFICATION); $34,422.07 (C-SURFACE CERTIFICATION); $35,282.62 (B-SURFACE CERTIFICATION); $36,164.69 (A-SURFACE CERTIFICATION).
