THE TOWN OF VALDESE IS CURRENTLY SEEKING A UTILITY FIELD TECHNICIAN TO PERFORM RESPONSIBLE, SKILLED WORK IN THE INSTALLATION, REPLACEMENT, REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF THE TOWN’S DISTRIBUTION AND COLLECTION SYSTEMS. AN EMPLOYEE IN THIS CLASS PERFORMS SKILLED WORK IN THE MAINTENANCE OF WATER AND SEWER LINES. WORK INVOLVES SIGNIFICANT PUBLIC CONTACT AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE WATER AND/OR SEWER SYSTEM. WORK MAY ALSO REQUIRE OPERATION OF CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT. EMPLOYEES ARE SUBJECT TO WORKING IN BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE ENVIRONMENTS, IN EXTREME COLD AND HOT WEATHER, HEAVY TRAFFIC, AROUND LOUD NOISES, AND WITH CHEMICALS. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: GRADUATION FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND CONSIDERABLE EXPERIENCE IN WATER DISTRIBUTION AND SEWER COLLECTIONS, REPAIR, AND MAINTENANCE. EQUIPMENT OPERATION EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: VALID NORTH CAROLINA DRIVER’S LICENSE. CERTIFICATION BY THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA (GRADE C) AND WASTEWATER COLLECTIONS (GRADE I) WITHIN 24 MONTHS. POSSESSION OF, OR ABILITY TO OBTAIN WITHIN 60 DAYS, NORTH CAROLINA CLASS B CDL. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: THE TOWN OF VALDESE OFFERS A COMPETITIVE SALARY COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS. THE SALARY RANGE OF THIS POSITION IS $27,615-41,428.
