THE TOWN OF MORRISVILLE IS SEEKING A TALENTED AND DRIVEN INDIVIDUAL FOR THE POSITION OF CONTROLLER. DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: - OVERSEES THE ACCOUNTING DIVISION OPERATIONS INCLUDING RECEIVABLES, REVENUE COLLECTIONS AND DISBURSEMENTS. - OVERSEES ACCURACY AND COMPLETENESS OF GENERAL LEDGER ACCOUNTS AND ENTRIES, PERFORMS A VARIETY OF GENERAL ACCOUNTING FUNCTIONS SUCH AS PREPARING AND POSTING ADJUSTING JOURNAL ENTRIES, RECONCILING BALANCE SHEET ACCOUNTS, RESEARCHING FINANCIAL DATA AND DISCREPANCIES INCLUDING CORRECTING ERRORS, MAINTAINING FINANCIAL RECORDS, OR SUBMITTING MANDATORY REPORTS. - OVERSEES COORDINATION OF THE ANNUAL AUDIT; PREPARATION OF COMPLEX AUDIT SCHEDULES. - OVERSEES AND DIRECTS THE PREPARATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE CAFR, OVERSEES CERTIFICATION APPLICATION PROCESS. - RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXED ASSETS FILES AND DETERMINATION, RECONCILES FIXED ASSET CAPITAL OUTLAY EXPENDITURES, SETS UP NEW ASSETS IN SYSTEMS AND MAINTAINS FIXED ASSET INVENTORY AND DATABASE. - ASSISTS WITH THE PREPARATION THE DEPARTMENTAL BUDGET. - RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPARATION OF PERIODIC REPORTS AND YEAR END REPORTING. - SUPERVISES ACCOUNTS PAYABLE AND PAYROLL PROCESSES, ASSISTS WITH DAILY QUESTIONS AND PROBLEM SOLVING, INVESTIGATES AND IMPLEMENTS AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT, ASSISTS WITH DATA ENTRY AND PROCESSING OF CHECKS AS NEEDED. - SUPERVISES ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN AND PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR AND CONDUCTS PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS. - ENSURES THE TOWN'S ADHERENCE TO STATE STATUTES, TECHNICAL ACCOUNTING PRONOUNCEMENTS, FEDERAL GUIDELINES AND LOCAL ORDINANCES AS THEY RELATE TO FINANCIAL AND REPORTING ISSUES. - SERVES AS BACKUP FOR REVIEW OF CONTRACTS TO ENSURE BUDGETARY COMPLIANCE; REVIEWS CONTRACTS AS NEEDED REGARDING OPERATIONAL ISSUES. - TRAINS OTHER DEPARTMENTS ON THE USE OF THE FINANCIAL SOFTWARE SYSTEM AND GENERAL FINANCIAL PROCEDURES. - DEVELOPS RECOMMENDATIONS ON OPERATIONAL CHANGES IN FINANCE AND THROUGHOUT TOWN; ADMINISTERS IMPLEMENTATION OF ALL ACCOUNTING RELATED CHANGES AS WELL AS SYSTEM CHANGES TO ENSURE ADEQUATE INTERNAL CONTROL. ESTABLISHES STANDARD PROCEDURES. - PREPARES WRITTEN AND ORAL PRESENTATIONS TO COUNCIL AS REQUIRED. ASSISTS IN DEFINING AND ESTABLISHING FINANCIAL POLICIES. ACTS IN THE ABSENCE OF THE FINANCE DIRECTOR. ANY COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE EQUIVALENT TO GRADUATION FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY WITH MAJOR COURSE WORK IN ACCOUNTING, BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION OR RELATED FIELD AND EXTENSIVE, PROGRESSIVELY RESPONSIBLE EXPERIENCE IN FINANCE ADMINISTRATION OR ACCOUNTING.
