THE SOUTH GRANVILLE WATER AND SEWER AUTHORITY (SGWASA) IS SEEKING A LEADER TO STRATEGICALLY DIRECT THE PLANNING, CONSTRUCTION, FINANCING, AND OPERATIONS OF THE SGWASA WATER AND SEWER SYSTEMS TO ASSURE THAT AUTHORITY PARTNERS HAVE ADEQUATE, COMPLIANT, AND DEPENDABLE UTILITY SERVICES. THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO STEP INTO AN EXECUTIVE ROLE. THE DIRECTOR WILL BE A PERSON WITH A HIGH ENERGY LEVEL, WHO MOTIVATES STAFF TO EXCELLENCE, VALUES ACCOUNTABILITY, AND IS AN EXCELLENT PROBLEM SOLVER. ABOUT THE SGWASA AND THE POSITION: ESTABLISHED IN 2005, SGWASA IS A MULTI-MEMBER AUTHORITY WITH SEVEN BOARD MEMBERS FROM FOUR JURISDICTIONS: STEM, BUTNER, CREEDMOOR AND GRANVILLE COUNTY. THE DIRECTOR REPORTS TO THE BOARD AND OVERSEES A BUDGET OF $12M AND SUPERVISES FIVE DIRECT REPORTS WITH TOTAL FTE STAFF OF 40 IN THE DIVISIONS OF WATER TREATMENT, WASTE WATER TREATMENT, COLLECTION AND DISTRIBUTION AND ADMINISTRATION. KEY CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE NEXT DIRECTOR OF SGWASA INCLUDE THE MANAGEMENT OF A NUMBER OF SIGNIFICANT INFRASTRUCTURES PROJECTS INCLUDING THE DESIGN AND BUILD OF UPGRADES TO EXISTING WATER TREATMENT PLANT, EVALUATION OF COMMUNITY GROWTH LEADING TO PROACTIVE PLANNING FOR WATER AND SEWER CAPACITY, AND TRANSPARENT ENGAGEMENT AND EDUCATION WITH THE PUBLIC OVER WATER QUALITY QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS. TO MEET THESE CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES SUCCESSFULLY, OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP SKILLS IN BUILDING, LEADING AND MAINTAINING A POSITIVE WORK CULTURE WHICH SUPPORTS STAFF TO DEVELOP AND THRIVE IN A TEAM ENVIRONMENT ARE ESSENTIAL. ADDITIONALLY, EXPERTISE IN REVENUE MANAGEMENT AND GENERATION, INTERGOVERNMENTAL FINANCING AND DEBT MANAGEMENT, CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT MANAGEMENT, AND A SUCCESSFUL TRACK RECORD IN WATER AND SEWER MANAGEMENT ARE REQUIRED. A SUCCESSFUL TRACK RECORD IN LEADERSHIP OF PEOPLE WITH UTILITIES OVERSIGHT IS IMPORTANT WHILE WATER AND SEWER PROJECT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE IS DESIRABLE ALONG WITH 5 YEARS OF INCREASINGLY RESPONSIBLE EXPERIENCE IN MANAGEMENT. HIRING RANGE IS $85,000 - $120,000 (BEGINNING SALARY WILL BE COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE). EXCELLENT HEALTH INSURANCE, LOCAL GOVERNMENT RETIREMENT PENSION (LGERS), AMONG OTHER BENEFITS ARE OFFERED. RESIDENCY WITHIN THE SERVICE ARE IS PREFERRED. HIRING RANGE IS $85,000 - $120,000 (BEGINNING SALARY WILL BE COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE).
