Orange Water And Sewer Authority (OWASA) Is Seeking Individuals Interested In Acquiring Training, Skills, And Experiences As An Intern With The Engineering And Planning Department. This Opportunity Prepares Individuals For A Rewarding Career In The Municipal Side Of The Water Or Wastewater Industry By Providing On-the-job Training, Mentorship, And Instruction. Specific Tasks Will Be Assigned Based On Skills, Experience, And Interest Of The Intern, And Generally May Include Such Tasks As Field Survey, GIS Editing, Research, Data Compilation And Analysis, Meetings, Development Of Charts And Graphics, Condition Assessments, And Other Analysis To Support Climate Action Plan, Local Water Supply Plan, Water Conservation Plan, Operating Trends Report, Monthly KPIs, Benchmarking Surveys, Asset Management Plan, Or Other Plans And Reports. While In The Program, Interns Will Be A Part-time Temporary Employee. The Expectation Is That Interns Will Work With OWASA For At Least One Summer. If Mutually Agreeable To Both The Intern And OWASA, Additional Internship Time May Be Allotted Into Future Semesters Or Future Summers. Completion Of The Internship Program Does Not Guarantee A Full-time Position With OWASA. Pay And Benefits: $21.40 To $26.23 Per Hour Flexible Schedule Safety Shoe Reimbursement Qualifications Include: Be A Current Student In An Engineering (environmental, Civil, Biological, Or Construction Focus), Environmental Science, Or Data Science Program Have Completed Sophomore Undergraduate Year (both Undergraduate And Graduate Students Are Encouraged To Apply) Maintain A Valid North Carolina Driver’s License Demonstrate Initiative, Creativity, And Ability To Multi-task Have The Ability To Follow Directions And Communicate Concisely In Both An Oral And Written Manner OWASA Does Not Discriminate Based On Race, Color, National Origin, Disability, Age, Or Sex In Administration Of Its Programs Or Activities, Or Employment Decisions.  We Are Proud To Be A Certified Orange County Living Wage Employer.   Apply Online At Www.owasa.org; Apply By April 12, 2024.
