City Of Hickory Is Seeking Qualified Candidates For The Position Of Public Utilities Director. Position Type: Full-Time. Hiring Range: $117,000 - $150,000 Annually, Depending On Qualifications, With An Excellent Benefits Package. Performs Complex Professional Work Managing Public Utility Services (water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, And Pipe Maintenance) For The City Of Hickory, North Carolina. This Includes Both Administrative And Technical Functions, With Special Emphasis On Overseeing Capital Improvements To Maintain And Enhance The City’s Water/sewer System. To Perform This Job Successfully, It Is Expected That The Individual Has The Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Outlined In This Job Description And Can Perform The Essential Functions Listed Professionally. Major Duties: Provide Effective Leadership To Manage All Water And Wastewater Administrative Functions, Programs, And Operations For The City Of Hickory, North Carolina To Achieve Optimal Performance And Continuity Of Service Levels, Ensuring Excellent Service And Interdepartmental Cooperation, And Shepherding Significant Capital Projects From Inception Through Completion; Plan, Organize, And Direct The Work Of Subordinate Supervisors And Employees Engaged In Plant Operations, Process Control, Laboratory Analysis, Distribution And Collection System Operations And Maintenance, Pumping Stations, And Preventative Maintenance And Repair. Direct And Review Long-range Planning And Development Of Public Utilities Programs And Projects, Including Economic Development Opportunities And Expansions; Ensure Compliance With All Federal, State, Utility Commission, And Local Reporting; Serve As Leadership Liaison With City Management, Public Safety Departments, And Public Works Operations To Prepare For, Develop, And Manage Emergency Plans And Remediation Of The System During Normal And Emergency Outages Including Communications, Outage Management, And Coordinating Services; Represent The Public Utilities Departments To Other Departments, Elected Officials, Local Enterprises, And Governmental Authorities; May Participate On A Variety Of Boards, Commissions, Committees, And Professional Group Meetings To Stay Abreast Of New Trends And Innovations In The Field Of Utilities; Responsible For Departmental And Division Budgets And Financial Models Within Public Utilities; Responsible For Various Long-range Financial Plans Within Public Utilities; Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree In Civil Engineering From An Accredited University And Ten Years Of Related Work Experience OR A Combination Of Education And/ Or Work Experience That Matches The Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities To Perform The Essential Functions Of The Position In A Professional Manner. Experience In Water And Wastewater Administration That Includes The Chemical Analysis Associated With Water And Wastewater Treatment, Compliance With State/federal Environmental Regulations, Oversight Of Capital Projects
