Performs Complex Professional And Administrative Work Planning, Organizing, And Directing A Variety Of Public Works Activities Including, But Not Limited To Building Maintenance, Equipment Services, Water Distribution And Wastewater Collection, And Street Maintenance And Repair. An Employee In This Class Plans, Organizes, And Directs The Work Of Employees Engaging In A Wide Variety Of Municipal Operations And Services. The Employee Provides Technical Advice And Assistance To The Town Manager And The Board In The Improvement Of Streets And Other Facilities, And Ensures That Municipal Work Crews Utilize Modern, Safe, Effective, And Efficient Practices. Work Also Includes Contract Management, Handling Citizen Issues, And Budget And Personnel Administration. The Employee Serves As Primary Point Of Contact And Administrator For Various Grant Programs Involving Public Works Related Projects. The Employee Represents The Town To A Wide Variety Of Citizens. Required Education And Experience: Extensive Experience Working With Capital Improvement Plans And Managing Workflow; Experience With Contract Management And Administration; Extensive Supervisory Experience Including Employee Performance Evaluations And Performance Management; Experience With Storm Water Maintenance; Possession Of A Valid North Carolina Driver's License. Preferred Education And Experience: Bachelor’s Degree In Public Administration, Business, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Or Related Field And Six Years Of Public Works Experience; Or An Equivalent Combination Of Training And Experience; Bilingual In Both Written And Spoken English And Spanish.
