* Salary Grade SG119* * Recruitment Range: $79,747.00 - $99,590.00* * Salary Offered Will Be Determined Based On Directly Related Experience * * Work Location Is 715 Amelia Church Rd., Clayton, NC (Johnston County) * The Town Of Clayton Is Seeking Applicants For An Assistant Parks & Recreation Director For The Parks & Recreation Department. The Town Of Clayton Employs More Than 300 Full-time Staff In Areas Including Police, Fire, And Electric Utilities. POSITION SUMMARY: An Employee In This Class Leads And Supports The Maintenance, Recreation, And Athletic Divisions And Assists The Director In Management Of The Department. Work Includes Recommending Policies And Procedures; Assisting In The Creation And Oversight Of Budgets; Assisting In Hiring Full-time Staff And Providing Oversight To Supervision Of Part-time Employees And Volunteers; Assuring Athletics And Recreation Programs Are Effectively Planned, Communicated , Supervised, And Managed; Assisting In Planning And Executing Special Events And Programs; Overseeing Grounds, Parks And Building Planning And Maintenance; Monitoring Use And Visitation Of Town Facilities; Assisting The Director In Facility Design And Construction And Long-range Planning; Preparing Grants; Managing Social Media And Website; Directly Supervising Splash Pad Operations And Staff; And Supervising The Department In The Director’s Absence. Work Is Performed In Accordance With Departmental Rules And Policies And Requires Sound Professional Judgment, Leadership, And Initiative. Work Is Performed Under The General Supervision Of The Parks And Recreation Director And Is Evaluated In Terms Of Program Effectiveness, Through Observation And Through Discussions Surrounding Public Acceptance/feedback. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises Full-time Staff And, Through Them, Part Time Staff And Numerous Volunteers Involved In Program Instruction And Delivery Of Daily Programs; Interviews And Recommends Hiring; Trains, Coaches, And Evaluates Employee’s Performance; Takes Disciplinary Action And Recommends Dismissal. Assists The Director In Ensuring Consistent Operations Of The Department; Supervises Staff, Facilities, And Programs As Assigned; Ensures All Work Areas Are Covered; Oversees Activities Scheduled In Recreation Facilities; Inspects Facilities To Assure Cleanliness And Safety, And Proper Room Arrangements; Meets With Citizens And Participants To Resolve Problem Situations. Interprets And Publicizes Programs And Activities Of The Department To The Public, Deals With Complaints And Questions. Assists The Director In Developing And Implementing Departmental Rules And Policies And The Annual And Capital Budgets.
