Summary: The Water / Sewer Superintendent Performs Difficult Technical And Intermediate Administrative Work Supervising And Coordinating The Work Of Water And Sewer Maintenance And Repair Crews; Does Related Work As Required. Work Is Performed Under General Supervision. Supervision Is Exercised Over All Division Personnel. Essential Duties And Responsibilities •Establishes Division Work Programs And Costs, Coordinates Implementation With Other Departments. •Prepares And Submits Water And Sewer Maintenance Budgets For Approval. •Monitors Expenditures To Stay Within Budget Limits. •Assists Purchasing Agent In Acquiring Materials For Water And Sewer Divisions. •Research Data And Attends Seminars To Learn Of New Methods And Materials For Water And Sewer Maintenance And Construction. •Compiles Cost Estimates For Contractors Concerning Water And Sewer Taps. •Attends TRC (Technical Review Committee) Meetings Dealing With Projects That Impact Water And Sewer Systems For The City. •Stays Updated On OSHA Requirements. •Serves As ORC (Operator In Responsible Charge) For City’s Water/sewer Distribution And Collection System. Minimum Education And/or Experience •High School Diploma Or GED. •Supplemented By Course Work In Sanitary Or Civil Engineering And Extensive Experience In The Repair, Operation And Maintenance Of Water And Sewer Systems. •Considerable Supervisory Experience. •Or Any Equivalent Combination Of Experience And Training Which Provides The Required Knowledge, Skill, And Abilities. Requirements • Possession Of A Valid N.C. Driver’s License. • May Require Possession Of An Appropriate Valid Commercial Driver’s License Or Ability To Obtain Within (6) Months Of Employment. Special Requirements • Must Be Able To Obtain A Grade A Water Distribution Certification, Cross Connection North Carolina Water Treatment Facility Operators Certification. • Grade III Water Pollution Control Collection System Operator Certification From The State Within (36) Months Of Employment.
