Public Services - Engineering And Administration Department Presents A Unique Career Opportunity As A Civil Engineer I/II/III. This Position Will Guide A Progressive Community That Is Experiencing Transformative Redevelopment In The Depot District With A $25 Million BUILD Grant. The City Of Lexington Is Seeking A Technically Skilled, Collaborative Civil Engineer To Perform A Variety Of Engineering, Construction And Related Public Works Assignments. The Successful Candidate Will Support Business And Community Development, Street Maintenance, Stormwater, Capital Projects And Public Utility Staff Across A Wide Array Of Public Projects And Exciting Economic Development Opportunities.
The Civil Engineer - Reviews, Approves And Tracks Commercial And Residential Construction Development Plans For Public Infrastructure Projects Throughout The City Of Lexington. The Candidate Utilizes Knowledge Of Civil Engineering And Infrastructure Construction To Effectively Manage A Variety Of Development Plans And Supports Engineering Functions That Include Technical Review Committee (TRC), Plan Review And As-built Review. The Candidate Should Be Familiar With How To Interpret Engineered Construction Drawings And Calculations, And Be Knowledgeable Of Applicable Federal, State And Local Laws, Rules And Regulations Pertaining To Public Infrastructure, Including ADA/PROWAG Compliance.
Determination Of Initial Job Title (Civil Engineer I, Civil Engineer II , Or Civil Engineer III) Will Be Based Upon Qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications: Civil Engineer I; Requires Graduation From An ABET Accredited College Or University With A Degree In Engineering Or Related Field; Driver's License Valid In NC And Good Driving Record.
Civil Engineer II - Requires Graduation From An ABET Accredited College Or University With A Degree In Engineering Or Related Field;
Two Years Or More Of Progressive Experience In Engineering; Engineer Intern Certification Required, Registration As A Professional Engineer Is Preferred; And Valid NC Driver's License And Good Driving Record.
Civil Engineer III - Bachelor's Degree In Engineering From An ABET Accredited College Or University; Four Years Or More Of Progressive Engineering Experience; Registration As Professional Engineer; And Valid NC Driver's License And Good Driving Record.
