The City Of Havelock Is Currently Looking To Fill The Position Of Assistant Fire Chief. An Employee In This Class Serves As The Operations And Administrative Manager Of The Fire And EMS Department; An Additional Role Is To Assume Command Of The Department In The Absence Of The Fire Chief. Successful Applicant Will Manage The Billing Of EMS Services, Debt Set – Off, And Other Revenue Streams For EMS. The Assistant Fire EMS Chief, Will Assure Compliance With Applicable NCOEMS, DEA, FDA, OSHA And Other Regulatory Standards As They Relate To EMS Operations And Will Fill In For Supervisory Or Shift Staff At The Paramedic Level As Necessary. This Position Updates And Maintains Rules And Regulations Regarding Department Policies And Procedures; Studies And Applies OSHA Standards For Staff And Standards For Handling Hazardous Materials; Interviews Potential Employees And Makes Recommendations For Employment; Prepares Performance Reports On Employees And Makes Recommendations For Promotions And Discipline And Represents The Department On Various Advisory Boards Within The Community And With Local, Regional, And State Emergency Management Agencies. Education: Graduation From Accredited College Or University With A Two-year Degree In Fire Science Technology And/or Emergency Services Technology Or Equivalent Field; A Bachelor’s Degree In A Fire Science Or EMT Discipline Is Desired. Experience: A Minimum Of 7 - 10 Years Firefighting/EMT-Paramedic Supervisory Experience At Or Above The Level Of A Fire Captain. Successful Applicant Must Be A NC EMT-Paramedic. Special Requirements: Valid North Carolina Driver’s License (B), North Carolina Certification As Firefighter II; And EMT-Paramedic.
