TITLE: Engineering Technician SALARY RANGE: $47,051-$76,458 GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This Position Will Perform Inspection And Monitoring Duties For All Developments Occurring In Town As Well As Town Stormwater And Transportation Projects. The Work Will Include Oversite In All Aspects Of Horizontal Constructions Excluding Water And Sewer Installation. Work Is Performed Under The General Supervision Of The Director Of Engineering And Is Evaluated On The Basis Of Accordance With Acceptable Principles And Practices Of Civil Engineering. Duties And Assignments May Include Assisting Other Departments Depending On Operational Needs Based On Staff Level. Work Will Consist Primarily Of Construction Inspection In The Field With Occasional Office Work As Needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible For Monitoring Construction To Ensure Compliance With The Plans, Specifications, Contracts And Town’s LDS Manual. • Responsible For Ensuring Contractors Interpret Plans, Specifications, Details, And The Town’s LDS Manual. Must Be Able To Reject Defective Work And Material And Inform Contractor Of Deficiencies In The Work And Require Necessary Corrective Action. • Responsible For Making Sure All Required Testing For The Type Of Construction Being Inspected Is Being Performed Per NCDOT’s Or Manufacture’s Requirements. Responsible For All Required Paperwork, Including Photos, Flyers, Door Hangers, Erosion Control Forms (if Warranted), And Any Other Forms Or Reports Necessary To Ensure Work Was Performed In A Satisfactory Manner. • Work With The Town’s Engineering Project Managers In Conducting Final Inspections, Prepare Punch Lists, And Assist In The Preparation Of The Record Drawings. • Must Be Able To Operate A Surveying Level And Be Able To Check Elevations And Computer Grades, Measure Quantities And Materials In The Field To Verify Contractor’s Monthly Pay Requests. • Serves As A Liaison With NCDOT And UCPW, Surrounding Towns, Citizens, And The General Public Regarding Construction Projects, Respond To Inquiries And Complaints In A Timely Manner And Work To Resolve Conflicts To A Satisfactory Conclusion. • Investigate Stormwater And Transportation Related Issues And Complaints And Be Able To Respond Back To The Citizen In A Timely Manner. Create Work Orders For Public Works Department If Investigation Outcome Warrants A Remediation. • Perform Field Work And Gather Data For The Preparation Of The Design Phase Of In-house Projects. • Participate In The Reproduction Of Plans And The Preparation, Filing, And Retrieval Of Engineering Plans, Documents, And Records. • Research Property And Ownership Records; Prepare Assessments And Assorted Documents. • Reviews All Town Stormwater GIS Data And Ensure Developers Submit New Data To Be Included In The GIS Model.
