CITY OF GOLDSBORO – ACCREDITATION AND PLANNING MANAGER
Performs Complex Administrative And Professional Work In Planning, Coordinating, And Managing Accreditation Activities And Processes. The Position Will Coordinate The Police Department’s Compliance With And Adherence To Prescribed Standards Established By Accrediting Bodies (e.g. The Commission On Accreditation For Law Enforcement Agencies, CALEA; North Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation, NCLEA, Etc.). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plans, Coordinates, And Manages Accreditation Activities, Projects, And Processes; Monitors And Measures Adherence To Standards; Completes And Submits Required Reports And Forms; Prepares And Maintains Appropriate Reports, Records, And Files; Stays Abreast Of All Aspects Of The Accreditation Process To Include Proposed Amendments To The Standards. Manages And Coordinates Departmental Activities Related To The Accreditation Process; Develops Proofs Of Compliance For Accreditation Standards; Reviews Standards And Ensures The Department Remains In Compliance; Resolves Non-compliance Issues And Findings; Coordinating Web-based And On-site Assessments And Inspections. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Knowledge And Understanding Of Current Law Enforcement Accreditation Standards (e.g. CALEA, NCLEA) And The Accreditation Process, And Thorough Knowledge Of Modern Law Enforcement Management, Operation, And Administration. Knowledge Of Federal Regulations And State Statutes, Including EEOC, NCGS, And FDLE. Knowledge Of Demographic And Geographic Characteristics In The Community. Skills With Writing And The Ability To Communicate Effectively Orally And In Writing. Skill In Having An Attitude And Work Style That Supports Teamwork, Collaboration, And Positive Relationships That Will Support And Complement The Work Environment And Customer Service Goals Of The Department. Ability To Prepare, Edit, And Maintain Accurate Documents, Reports, Records, Files, And Materials. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree In Planning, Public Administration, Business Management, Criminal Justice, Or A Related Field; Three (3) Years Of Experience In Planning, Coordinating, And Managing Accreditation Activities And Processes; Or An Equivalent Combination Of Education And/or Experience. Experience Working In A Law Enforcement Setting Preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession Of A Valid North Carolina Driver’s License. Ability To Obtain Accreditation Manager Certification Within Five Years Of Employment. Ability To Obtain Law Enforcement Planner Certification Within Five Years Of Employment.
