An Employee In This Class Performs A Variety Of Administrative, Supervisory, And Professional Duties In The Management Of Parks, Recreation, Athletic Activities, And Parks. The Employee Develops And Plans Work Operations, Projects Departmental Growth And Development, And Is Responsible For Policy And Procedure Maintenance And Development. Work Requires Extensive Public Contact With Private Groups, Civic Organizations, Local Officials, And The General Public In The Promotion, Development, Programming, Maintenance, And Direction Of The Parks And Recreation Programs. Required Education And Experience Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree In Recreation Administration, Public Administration, Or Related Field And Extensive Experience In The Management Of A Municipal Recreation Program; Or An Equivalent Combination Of Education And Experience. • Knowledge And Experience With Athletic And Recreation Programs And Special Events Planning. • Extensive Supervisory Experience. • Possession Of A Valid North Carolina Driver's License. Preferred Education And Experience Qualifications • Extensive Supervisory Experience In A Parks And Recreation Department. • Possession Of Certified Parks And Recreation Professional (CPRP). • Knowledge And Experience In Lifeguarding Responsibilities. • Possession Of Certified Parks And Recreation Professional (CPRP). • American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification Upon Hire. • Pool Operator/Aquatic Facility Operator Certification Upon Hire. • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification Upon Hire. • Bilingual In Both Written And Spoken English And Spanish. Additional Employment Requirements • American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification Within Six Months Of Hire. • Pool Operator/Aquatic Facility Operator Certification Within One Year Of Hire. • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification Within One Year Of Hire. • All Required Certifications And Licenses Must Be Maintained With No Lapse During The Course Of Employment.
