The City Of Raleigh Department Of Human Resources Seeks An Innovative And Forward-thinking Assistant Director To Lead A Diverse Team Of Professionals And Administrative Staff In Our Workforce Strategy And Engagement Division. This Division Has A Significant Influence On Employees’ Success In Being Their Best At Work And In Delivering Service. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Extensive Experience And Knowledge Of Organizational Development And Learning, Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Business Partnerships And Employee Relations. The Assistant Director Will Oversee The Daily Operation Of The Division By Providing Leadership, Guidance, And Direction. This Role Is Responsible For Leading Strategic Initiatives Related To Workforce Planning Strategies, Employee Engagement, Recruitment And Retention, Leadership And Professional Development Strategies, Performance Management, And Employee Relations. The Candidate Will Fully Embrace Collaboration And Relationship Building. Duties And Responsibilities - Identifies Organizational Needs And Priorities Through Engagement, Development, Cultural And Other Surveys/assessments - Responsible For The Organizational Development And Learning Initiatives Including Foundational, Professional, Supervisory, And Leadership Programs - Leads The Organization’s Performance Management Program - Leads Development, Implementation, And Administration Of Recruitment, Selection, And Retention Policies - Provides Guidance, Support And Leadership Of HR Business Partners Who Serve As The Pipeline To Departments In Providing Employee Relations Guidance In Human Resources Issues Such As Performance Improvement, Discipline, Grievances, And Harassment/discrimination Investigations. - Spends Individual Time With Each Team Member Answering Questions, Providing Guidance, Coaching, And Mentoring - Coordinates And Provides Oversight Of The Implementation Of Divisional Programs And Activities, Participates In Policy Development - Oversees And Participates In The Analysis, Development, And Administration Of Assigned Budget; Monitors And Approves Expenditures And Budget Compliance; And Recommends Adjustments Typical Qualifications Bachelor's Degree In Human Resources, Public Administration, Or Related Field. Master Of Business Administration/Master Of Public Administration Preferred And A Minimum Of Eight (8) Years Of Experience In Responsible Leadership Role In Human Resources With A Preference Of At Least Five (5) Years In A Management Or Assistant Management Role Or Some Combination. OR An Equivalent Combination Of Education And Experience Sufficient To Successfully Perform The Essential Duties Of The Job Such As Those Listed Above, Unless Otherwise Subject To Any Other Requirements Set Forth In Law Or Regulation.
