*This Position Performs Difficult Technical Work Examining A Wide Variety Of Commercial, Residential, And Industrial Building Plans For Compliance To Issue Permits And To Ensure Compliance With Proper Codes And Ordinances For Permitting. An Employee In This Class Reviews Construction Plans For Compliance With Proper Codes And Ordinances And Approves The Issuance Of Building Permits Making Decisions On What Plans Will Be Required For Permit Applications And Whether Submitted Plans Meet The Intent Of The Code Requirements. Work Includes Examining Plans Of Commercial, Industrial, And Single And Multi-family Residential Buildings Including Large, Multi-story Buildings Requiring Level III Certification From The North Carolina Department Of Insurance. Technical Judgment Is Required To Interpret Provisions Of The Codes As Applied To Various Construction Projects And Circumstances. The Employee Is Subject To Inside Environmental Conditions. Tact, Courtesy, And Firmness Must Be Exercised In Dealing With Contractors And The General Public. Work Is Performed Under Regular Supervision And Is Evaluated Through Conferences, Review Of Reports And Records, And Contractor And Citizen Reactions. *Must Possess A Level III Standard Certificate Issued From The NC Code Qualification Board In All Specified Trades (Building, Plumbing, Mechanical And Electrical)
