POSITION: WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT SHIFT SUPERVISOR SALARY GRADE: GRADE 56 STARTING SALARY: $62,479.04 ($30.038/Hr.) A Person In This Position Performs Difficult Skilled Technical Work Overseeing The Operations Of A Wastewater Treatment Plant On An Assigned Shift; Ensuring Compliance With State And Federal Regulations, Scheduling And Training Personnel, And Related Work As Apparent Or Assigned. Work Is Performed Under The Limited Supervision Of The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations Manager. Continuous Supervision Is Exercised Over Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators. Education: High School Diploma Or GED And Considerable Experience In Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations, Or Equivalent Combination Of Education And Experience. Competencies/Experience: Thorough Knowledge Of The Operating Characteristics And Maintenance Requirement Of A Wastewater Treatment Plant; Thorough Knowledge Of Applicable Federal, State, And Local Laws, Ordinances, And Permitting Requirements; Thorough Knowledge Of Department Policies, Practices And Procedures; General Knowledge Of Standard Laboratory Tests And Procedures Used In A Wastewater Treatment Plant; General Knowledge Of Hydraulic, Chemical And Mechanical Principles Pertinent To Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations; General Knowledge Of The Occupational Hazards Of The Work And Of Necessary Safety Precautions; General Knowledge Of Automated And Computer Operations; Skilled In The Use Of Hand Tools And Computers; Ability To Operate Computers To Monitor And Control Operations Of The Plant; Ability To Detect Flaws In The Operation Of Mechanical Equipment And To Determine Proper Remedial Measures; Ability To Conduct Routine Laboratory Tests; Ability To Understand And Follow Moderately Complex Oral And Written Instructions; Ability To Read Meters, Charts, And Technical Manuals And Drawings Accurately And To Maintain Records Of Shift Operations; Ability To Supervise Shift Personnel And Enforce Safety Rules And Regulations; Ability To Implement And Monitor Safety Policies; Ability To Make Arithmetic Computations; Ability To Compute Rates, Ratios And Percentages; Ability To Use Basic Algebra And Geometry To Perform Mean Calculations; Ability To Establish And Maintain Effective Working Relationships With Employees, Associates, Regulatory Agency Representatives, Engineers, Consultants, Board Members And The General Public. License Or Certification: Possession Of NC Grade III Biological Water Pollution Control System Operator Certification Upon Hire. Maintain The Required Continuing Education Credits For Certification Annually. Valid Driver's License In The State Of North Carolina.
