The Village Of Marvin (pop. 6,500) Is Seeking A Driven, Strong Leader With Municipal Planning Experience For The Newly Created Position Of Full-time Public Works Director. Marvin Is One Of The Fastest Growing Municipalities In The State, Located 12 Miles South Of Charlotte In Union County. Relatively Newly Incorporated Just 25 Years Ago, Marvin Prides Itself As A Signature Residential Community While Maintaining A Low Tax Rate. The Public Works Department Is A New Department With Divisions Of Facility Maintenance, Solid Waste (contract Liaison), And Streets. The Purpose Of This Position Is To Plan, Organize, Coordinate, Manage, Review, And Evaluate The Village’s New Public Works Department. Employee Will Supervise Crews And May Participate In Construction/repair And/or Maintenance Projects, As Needed. Must Have Ability To Establish And Maintain Effective Working Relationships With Supervisors, Subordinates, Boards, And General Public. Work Involves Complex And Sensitive Issues Requiring A High Level Of Discretion, Judgment, And Tact. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree In A Management Field Such As Public Or Business Administration, Engineering, Or Related Field And Five Years Of Responsible Experience In Public Works Systems And At Least Two Years Of Administrative And Supervisory Experience OR An Equivalent Combination Of Training And Experience That Provides The Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities, Valid Driver’s License. Greater Preference For Applicants With Engineering Background. Criminal Background Check Is Required. This Position Is For Exempt Full Time With Some Flex/remote Work Schedule Available. Night Meetings Are A Requirement (usually 2 Per Month). Compensation: $73,000-$80,000 DOQ.
