Salary Range Town Of Haw River Pay Grade: 22 Salary Range: $46,441.29 - $69,661.91 DOQ GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Purpose Of This Job Is To Coordinate And Supervise The Field Operations Within The Public Works & Utilities Department And Assist The Director With The Creation And Maintenance Of Systems, Records, And Serving As The Director In His Absence. This Position Works Independently, Under Limited Supervision. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: An Employee In This Class Supervises Crews And May Participate In The Construction, Repair, And Maintenance Of Facilities Such As Streets, Gutters, Ditches, Catch Basins, Water And Sewer Lines, Pump Stations And Other Related Facilities. The Employee Can Serve As The Lead Or Back-up Operator Responsible In Charge (ORC) For The Collection Systems, Distribution Systems And Cross-connection Control. This Employee Also Supervises The Town’s Sanitation Program, Including Routing, Maintenance Of Equipment, And Responding To Citizen Complaints. Work Includes Establishing Daily Work Priorities, Changing Workflow As Needed, And Reviewing Daily Logs And Work Activities With Employees. Work Is Often Performed At A Work Site Exercising Immediate Supervision Over Crew(s). Employee Is Responsible For Making Decisions Regarding Work Site Safety Conditions And Prioritizing Daily Work. Work Is Performed In Accordance With Departmental Practice And Policy And Requires The Exercise Of Considerable Independent Judgment. Work Is Performed Under The Supervision Of The Public Works Director And Is Evaluated Through Observation, Written Evaluation, And Compliance Reports. Thorough Knowledge Of Public Works Administration And Operations; Modern Construction, Repair, And Maintenance Methods; Use Of Construction And Maintenance Machinery. Ability To Plan, Organize And Supervise The Work Of Department Employees. Must Demonstrate Courtesy And Tact In Dealing With The General Public. Must Have The Ability To Establish And Maintain Effective Working Relationships With Supervisors, Subordinates And The General Public; Skill In The Operation Of A Variety Of Construction Equipment. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Completion Of High School Or GED Equivalency And Five (5) Years Or More Of Work Experience In The Installation And Maintenance Of Water And Sewer Pipes, Excavation And Pavement Of Streets And Drains, And Trades Maintenance Of Buildings And Grounds. The Combination Of Education, Training And Experience Should Demonstrate Competency With Equipment Operation And Ability To Complete Assignments.
