The Town Of Kenly, North Carolina Is Currently Accepting Applications For Full Time Police Officer Positions. These Positions Are Assigned To The Patrol Division And Require The Enforcement Of State Laws And Local Ordinances. The Purpose Of These Positions Is To Protect Life And Property, Deter Criminal Activity, And Serve The Needs Of The Community. Essential Duties And Tasks: Monitor And Responds To Calls Communicated By Dispatcher, Including Domestic Disputes, Assaults, Burglaries, Traffic Accidents, Lost Or Missing Persons Searches, Public Service Duties, Stranded Motorists, And Other Calls For Service. Conducts Preliminary Investigations Of Crimes And Completes Appropriate Reports, Including, but Not Limited To: Major Crimes; Traffic; Theft; Personal/familial And Public Disputes. Secures Crime Scenes; Gathers Information In Criminal Investigations By Interviewing Victims, Witnesses, Informants, And Suspects. Performs Searches Of People, Vehicles, And Buildings; Prepares Investigative Reports Of Findings, Facts, And Related Information; Makes Arrests And Detects And Collect Evidence That Provide The Basis For Probable Cause For Criminal Acts And Testifies In Court. Enforces Traffic Laws And Regulations; Detects Traffic Violators; Issues Parking Violations; Performs Traffic Accident Investigations And Make Reports; Facilitates The Movement Of Traffic And Pedestrians Around Accidents, Disabled Traffic Control Devices, Or Heavily Congested Areas; Assists Disabled Motorists; Escorts And/or Directs Traffic For Funerals And Other Public Gatherings. And Performs Rescue Operations At Accidents, Emergency Scenes, And Disaster Areas. Inspects And Maintains Vehicle And All Related Law Enforcement Equipment. This Position Will Require The Ability To Work Night Shift, Split Shifts, Day Shifts, And Holidays. Starting Salary Is 42,000.00 Annually. Qualified Applicants Must Possess A High School Diploma Or Equivalent, A Valid North Carolina Driver's License, And North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification (BLET). Candidates Must Successfully Complete A Background Investigation, Medical Examination (including Drug Screen). New/Probationary Appointees Will Also Have To Successfully Complete A Psychological Evaluation.
