The Town Of Calabash Has An Immediate Opening For The Position Of Building Inspector. An Employee In This Class Performs Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing And Fire Inspections, Code Enforcement, And Other Work As Directed To Ensure Compliance Of All Regulations, Ordinances, And Codes For The Town Of Calabash. This Position Works With The Current Calabash Building Inspector Under The General Supervision Of The Town Administrator. The Applicant Must Possess A High School Diploma (or Equivalent), A Valid NC Driver’s License, And Must Meet All Requirements Of The NC Code Officials Qualification Board In Order To Perform The Position. The Applicant Must Possess Strong Communication Skills, Interpretation Skills, Record Keeping Skills, And Be Able To Maintain Effective Working Relationships. The Position Requires That The Applicant Be Able To Handle A Number Of Physical Tasks, Indoors And Outdoors, In Varying Weather Conditions. The Ideal Applicant Will Hold A Minimum Of Standard Level I Certificates In All Fields And Hold Probationary Certificates In Next Level Fields. Individuals That Do Not Hold All Field Standard Certificates But Have Probationary Certificates And Can Obtain Standard Certificates Within 6 Months Will Be Considered.
