Laurel Park, Population 2,400, Is Located Just Outside Of Hendersonville And 35 Minutes South Of Asheville. The Town Is Seeking A Dynamic, Organized, And Detail-oriented Individual To Be Our New Finance Officer. An Employee In This Class Serves As The Chief Financial Officer For The Town Of Laurel Park. Emphasis Of The Work Is On The Exercise Of Managerial And Professional Accounting Knowledge And Abilities Required To Oversee The Operations And Supervision Of Town Finances Including Subsidiary Functions For Financial Reporting, Treasury, Investments, Accounts Payable, Billing And Collections Of Municipal Services, Budgeting, Payroll, And Other Accounting Divisions And Operations. The Employee Also Serves The Human Resources Role For The Town. The Employee Must Exercise Considerable Independent Judgement And Initiative In Performing The Fiscal Control System. Work Is Performed In Accordance With Established Municipal Finance Procedures, Local Ordinances And North Carolina General Statutes Governing The Responsibilities Of Local Government Accountants. Work Is Performed Under The Direction Of The Town Manager And Is Evaluated Through Conferences, Reports, And By An Independent Audit Of Financial Records • Required: Graduation From An Accredited College Or University With A Bachelor’s Degree In Accounting, Business, Finance Or A Related Field; A Master’s Degree Is Preferred • Five (5) Years Of Experience In Public Finance Management (preferably In Local Government) At Least 2 Years Of Which Must Have Been Professional Financial Management Above The First-line Supervisory Level • Exempt, Monday – Friday, 8:00 A.m. To 5:00 P.m. Starting Salary Is Between $62,900 And $74,880 DOE, With Potential For Increase After Successful Completion Of Six-months Probation. • Valid Driver’s License • Notary Public Or Ability To Obtain • Government Financial Officer Certification By The North Carolina Governmental Finance Officers Association Or Ability To Obtain • This Is A Work-on-site Position.
