The Professional City Manager That Valdosta Seeks Will Have The Knowledge, Skills And Experience Necessary To Assist The Mayor And Council In Addressing Difficult Community Issues In A Professional And Compassionate Manner. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience Developing A Workforce That Values Diversity And Is Reflective Of The Community They Serve. He/She Will Create An Employee Friendly Culture Focused On Professional Development Opportunities, Succession Planning, Quality Customer Service, And Accountability For Job Performance. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree Required In Public Administration, Business Administration, Planning, Economic Development Or Related Degree From An Accredited College Or University. A Master’s Degree Is Preferred. • A Minimum Of Five Years Of Executive Level Management Experience In Local Governments Of Similar Size And Complexity To Valdosta Or Applicable Executive Type Experience Is Required Or Any Equivalent Combination Of Education, Training And Experience Which Provides The Requisite Knowledge, Skills And Abilities To Perform The Essential Functions Of The Job. Must Have At Least Two Years Of Supervisory Experience Leading A Team. • Evidence Of Continued Professional Development Such As ICMA Credentialed Manager Designation, Is A Positive Indicator Of Dedication To The Profession And Will Be Noted During The Vetting Process. Compensation & Benefits: The Expected Starting Salary Range For This Position Is $150,000 - $170,000 (depending On Qualifications Of The Selected Candidate), With A Comprehensive Benefits Package.
