MAS ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST

THE NORTH CAROLINA LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES HAS NEW AND EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS LOOKING TO JOIN OUR TEAM AS MAS ACCOUNTING SPECIALISTS. THESE NEWLY CREATED POSITIONS HELP TO PARTNER ACCOUNTING ASSISTANCE EFFORTS WITH A NEW CLOUD-BASED ACCOUNTING SYSTEM FOR QUALIFIED MUNICIPALITIES. ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST POSITIONS WILL BE PART OF AN ACCOUNTING ASSISTANCE UNIT AT THE NC LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES AND WILL HAVE ACCESS INTO A MUNICIPALITY'S FINANCIAL SYSTEMS TO REGULARLY REVIEW ACCOUNTING/FINANCIAL ACTIVITY, PROMOTE BEST PRACTICES, AND SUPPORT YEAR-END READINESS.

REPORTING DIRECTLY TO THE SUPERVISOR OF ACCOUNTING OPERATIONS – MAS, THE POSITION REQUIRES WORKING COLLABORATIVELY AND INDEPENDENTLY TO PROVIDE REGULAR ACCOUNTING ASSISTANCE SERVICES TO PARTICIPATING MAS MUNICIPALITIES. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS A LEARNED KNOWLEDGE OF GOVERNMENTAL ACCOUNTING AND GENERALLY ACCEPTED ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES, ADVANCED COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS, AND SOUND JUDGEMENT.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: AT LEAST 4-10 YEARS' EXPERIENCE WORKING IN AN ACCOUNTING FIELD, PREFERABLY INVOLVING GOVERNMENTAL ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE AND ACCOUNTING PROCESSES. WORK REQUIRES BROAD KNOWLEDGE IN A GENERAL PROFESSIONAL OR TECHNICAL FIELD. KNOWLEDGE IS NORMALLY ACQUIRED THROUGH FOUR YEARS OF COLLEGE RESULTING IN A BACHELOR'S DEGREE OR EQUIVALENT IN ACCOUNTING OR FINANCE.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: CPA PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED.  ALSO PREFER NC FINANCE OFFICER CERTIFICATION.  EXPERIENCE DIRECTLY INVOLVING GOVERNMENTAL ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE AND ACCOUNTING PROCESSES.

BENEFITS: THIS POSITION CAN BE FULL-TIME OR PART-TIME AND IS FIELD BASED WITH WORK PRIMARILY PERFORMED ON-SITE AND IN-PERSON AT MEMBER MUNICIPALITIES.  THIS POSITION IS COVERED BY THE LGERS RETIREMENT SYSTEM. EXPECTED HIRING RANGE OF $80,000 - $95,000 ANNUALLY BASED ON FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT WITH THE LEAGUE.  PART-TIME HOURLY RATE NEGOTIABLE BASED ON EXPERIENCE.​
