Town Of Beech Mountain Police Sergeant- Shift Commander Performs Difficult Protective Service And Responsible Administrative Work Supervising And Participating In The Protection Of Life And Property Through The Enforcement Of Laws And Ordinances; Does Related Work As Required. Work Is Performed Under Direct Chief Of Police/Captain Supervision. Supervision Is Exercised Over Subordinate Officers. Work Is Frequently Performed Under Emergency Situations And Involves Considerable Personal Hazard And Danger. Employee Must Have The Ability To Develop A Positive Public Image, Display Tact And Firmness When Interacting With The Public, Criminal Suspects Or Witnesses, Apply Reasoned And Experienced Judgment And Discretion, And Project A Positive Attitude. Employee Will Serve As A Departmental Field Training Supervisor, Overseeing The Department’s Field Training Program. Thorough Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws, Laws Of Search And Seizure As Police Sergeant. Requires Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification (BLET) Graduation From High School Or GED Equivalency; Experience In Law Enforcement Work Is Preferred And An Associate’s Or Bachelor’s Degree In Criminal Justice Or Related Field Is Preferred.
