This Position Is Responsible For The Evaluation And Acquisition, Administration, Maintenance, And Development Of The City’s Mission-critical Network Infrastructure, Including, But Not Limited To: Cisco LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, Cisco Phone System, Network Security, Backup And Disaster Recovery, VMWare Host Servers, Print Servers And Devices, Microsoft DNS, DHCP, ISCSI SAN. Performs Advanced Level Lead Work Administering Highly Complex Technical Projects Related To Designing, Analyzing, Developing, Configuring, And Administering Various Computer And Information Systems And Services. Performs Highly Complex Duties With Lead Responsibility In Planning System Installations, Migration, And Update Projects, And Coordinates The Efforts Of Various Relevant Parties To Ensure Successful Implementation. Routinely Resolves Problems Without Direct Supervision. Provides Technical Leadership To The Information Technology Team. Assists The IT Manager In The Development Of Policies And Procedures That Affect The Operation And Use Of The City Of Hickory’s Network. Manages Switching, Routing, Firewall, Web Filter And Intrusion Detection Systems. Installs New Equipment; Maintains Equipment Inventory. Generates Reports And Statistics For Presentation To Supervisors. Maintains Knowledge Of Networks; Assists With Network Monitoring And Troubleshooting; Installs And Maintains Network Operating Systems On Network Servers. Evaluates And Obtains Quotes For Technology Equipment And Software; Makes Acquisition Recommendations. Trains Coworkers In The Utilization Of Software And Hardware Resources; Manages The Installation, Maintenance, And Upgrades Of Network Infrastructure Components (i.e., ISP’s, Servers, SANs, Firewalls, Hubs, Switches, Multiplexers, Etc.). Interacts With Users And Service Providers To Determine Technology Solutions To Problems And Improve Efficiency. Performs Related Duties As Assigned
