General Statement Of Duties- Performs Responsible Professional Recreational Programming Work Planning, Organizing, And Supervising A Variety Of Athletic And Parks Activities For The Town. Distinguishing Features Of The Class- An Employee In This Class Plans, Organizes And Supervises The Recreational Programming For The Town. Work Includes Overseeing Preparation And Maintenance Of Athletic Fields, Parks And Facilities and Short And Long Range Planning For Services And Facilities Needed For Community Growth. Work involves Considerable Planning And Scheduling Of Activities, Supervision Of Limited Service Staff, and Contact With Participants And Staff. The Employee Modifies Existing Programs In Concert With the Requested Needs Of The Community; Recruits Staff As Well As Participants; Publicizes Program Activities; And Supervises The Successful Implementation Of Such Programs. Employee Is Also Responsible For Preparation And Administration Of Department Budget And Ordering Equipment And Supplies. Work Is Performed In Accordance With Best Practices And Departmental Rules And Policies And Requires Judgmental Discretion In The Application And Interpretation Of Programs, Game Rules, And Procedures And Strong Customer Service And Conflict Resolution Skills. Employee Is Subject To Hazards In Parks And Recreation Including Working In Both Inside And Outside Environments And In Extreme Temperatures, And Noise. Duties May Also Expose The Employee To Human Body Fluids And The Work Is Covered By The Final OSHA Standards On Blood Borne Pathogens. Work Is Performed Under The General Supervision Of The Town Manager And Is Evaluated In Terms Of Program Effectiveness And Through Observation And Discussions Surrounding Public Acceptance.
