Police Captain LOCATION: Wrightsville Beach, NC SALARY: Grade 23; TOWB Pay Plan Range $58,060-$90,223 DUTIES: The Town Of Wrightsville Beach Is Seeking An Individual To Fill The Position Of Police Captain. This Position Reports Directly To The Chief Of Police And Serves As The Daily Operations Commander, With Direct Supervisory Oversight Over Either The Patrol Or The Support Services Divisions Of The Police Department. The Wrightsville Beach Police Department Is Committed To Being A Professional Law Enforcement Agency. We Are Proud To Be Accredited Through The Commission On Accreditation For Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Since 2015. REQUIREMENTS: This Is A Sworn Officer Position, As Such Candidates Will Have To Meet All The Necessary Requirements Of A Police Officer In The State Of North Carolina. The Candidate Must Also Have At Least 10 Years Of Progressively Responsible Experience In All Phases Of Police Work In A Law Enforcement Agency, Preferably Within The State Of North Carolina. A Two-year Degree In A Criminal Justice Related Field Is Required While An Undergraduate Degree In Either Criminal Justice, Public Administration Or Related Field Is Preferred. A Combination Of Formal Education And Experience That Provides The Necessary Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Will Be Considered On A Case To Case Basis. Candidates Must Either Possess NC Law Enforcement Certification Or Be Eligible For Immediate Certification With NC Criminal Justice Education And Standards Commission, If Applying From Out Of State. Must Also Possess A Valid North Carolina Driver’s License At The Time Of Appointment. While Holding An Advanced Certificate Is Preferred, All Candidates Will Be Expected To Demonstrate That They Will Qualify For The Advanced Certificate Within 1 Year Of Being Appointed.
