ELECTRIC SYSTEMS/RATE ENGINEER I, II, III SALARY $30.97 - $47.50 HOURLY $2,477.34 - $3,800.01 BIWEEKLY $64,410.74 - $98,800.35 ANNUALLY JOB TYPE: FULL TIME ELECTRIC SYSTEMS ENGINEER/RATE SPECIALIST I PERFORMS INTERMEDIATE PROFESSIONAL WORK INVOLVED WITH THE PLANNING AND DESIGN OF ELECTRICAL FACILITIES IN THE CITY; DOES RELATED WORK AS REQUIRED. WORK IS PERFORMED UNDER THE LIMITED SUPERVISION OF ELECTRIC ENGINEERING MANAGER. ELECTRIC SYSTEMS ENGINEER/RATE SPECIALIST II PERFORMS DIFFICULT PROFESSIONAL WORK INVOLVED WITH THE PLANNING AND DESIGN OF ELECTRICAL FACILITIES IN THE CITY; ELECTRIC SYSTEMS ENGINEER/RATE SPECIALIST III PERFORMS COMPLEX PROFESSIONAL WORK IN SUPPORT OF THE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, INSPECTION, AND MAINTENANCE OF A VARIETY OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING PROJECTS AND OPERATIONS; ENGINEERING MANAGER.PREPARES TECHNICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS INCLUDING ECONOMIC AND RATE STUDIES30% COORDINATE CUSTOMER-OWNED RENEWAL ENERGY PROJECTS; EDUCATE CUSTOMER REGARDING THE ECONOMICS OF SUCH VENTURES; WORK WITH CUSTOMERS AND CUSTOMER CONTRACTORS TO ENSURE INSTALLATIONS MEET CITY AND NORTH CAROLINA UTILITIES COMMISSION GUIDELINES; PREPARE CONTRACTS AND ACQUIRE SIGNATURES FROM CUSTOMERS AND CITY OFFICIALS; MONITOR IMPACT ON THE ELECTRIC GRID AND REVENUE 20% PARTICIPATE IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOL CAREER DAYS AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL EFFORTS; PROMOTE SAFETY; ADVISE STUDENTS REGARDING CAREER OPPORTUNITIES; PERFORM ENERGY AUDITS AS REQUESTED BY ELECTRIC CUSTOMERS; COORDINATE WITH ELECTRICITIES STAFF; CONSULT WITH CUSTOMER UPON DELIVERING THE AUDIT REPORT20% DESIGNS ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM; PREPARES SPECIFICATIONS FOR NEW ELECTRICAL TRANSFORMER INSTALLATIONS; REVIEWS PLANS OF NEW SUBDIVISIONS, INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENTS AND MAKES RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LOCATIONS OF ELECTRICAL SERVICE NEEDS SUCH AS WIRING, TRANSFORMERS AND AREA LIGHTS; PROVIDES CONTRACTORS WITH TECHNICAL INFORMATION RELATING TO ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING PROJECTS; COMPILES COST ESTIMATES ON A VARIETY OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING PROJECTS10%CONDUCTS FEASIBILITY STUDIES FOR PROPOSAL SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS; WORKS WITH ENERGY OFFICER, ELECTRICAL SUPERVISORS; CONSULTANTS AND OTHERS TO MAINTAIN AN EFFECTIVE ENERGY LOAD MANAGEMENT PROGRAM; WORKS DIRECTLY WITH SOLAR VENDORS ON BEHALF OF CITY CUSTOMERS CONCERNING INTERCONNECTION STANDARDS AND ELECTRIC RATES 10%PLAN AND MANAGE INTERMEDIATE PROJECTS SUCH AS HIGHWAY RELOCATIONS AND RE-CONDUCTORING 10%ELECTRIC SYSTEMSEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:GRADUATION FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY WITH A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING, OR RELATED FIELD AND MODERATE EXPERIENCE IN THE OPERATION OF A MUNICIPAL UTILITY, OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.THE CITY OF GASTONIA IS COMMITTED TO CREATING AND MAINTAINING A WORK ENVIRONMENT THAT IS INCLUSIVE, EQUITABLE AND WELCOMING.
