WHILE SERVING A GROWING COMMUNITY, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL PERFORM A VARIETY OF SERVICES THAT SUPPORT GUILFORD COUNTY’S MISSION TO PROVIDE EFFICIENT, EFFECTIVE, RESPONSIVE GOVERNMENT THAT MEETS THE PUBLIC’S NEEDS AND IMPROVES OUR COMMUNITY. AREAS OF MANAGEMENT AND FUNCTIONAL EXPERTISE INCLUDE: RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION, EMPLOYEE RELATIONS, TRAINING AND ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT, CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION, BENEFITS AND HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (HRMS). THE HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PLANNING, MODIFYING, AND ADMINISTERING THE HR MANAGEMENT PROGRAM FOR COUNTY EMPLOYEES AND DEPARTMENTS. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MASTER'S DEGREE IN HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT, PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, OR BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION OR CLOSELY RELATED FIELD AND FIVE YEARS EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION OR PRIVATE SECTOR MANAGEMENT LEVEL EMPLOYMENT WORK EXPERIENCE IN HUMAN RESOURCES, OF WHICH THREE YEARS MUST BE IN A SUPERVISORY ROLE; OR, GRADUATION FROM A FOUR YEAR COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY WITH A DEGREE IN HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT, PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, OR BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION OR CLOSELY RELATED FIELD AND SEVEN YEARS EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION OR PRIVATE SECTOR MANAGEMENT LEVEL EMPLOYMENT WORK EXPERIENCE IN HUMAN RESOURCES, OF WHICH THREE YEARS MUST BE IN A SUPERVISORY ROLE. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: SPHR, PHR, IPMA-CP, IPMA-SCP, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP CERTIFICATION OR BE WILLING TO OBTAIN CERTIFICATION UPON HIRE. THE STARTING SALARY IS NEGOTIABLE DEPENDING ON QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE WITHIN A RANGE OF $109,532 TO $160,852.
