ELECTRICITIES’ STRENGTH IS BRINGING PUBLIC POWER COMMUNITIES TOGETHER TO SHARE KNOWLEDGE IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE THEIR POWER SAFER AND MORE RELIABLE. WE ARE LOOKING FOR A MANAGER, SAFETY & TRAINING WHO WILL PROVIDE LEADERSHIP AND OVERSIGHT TO ELECTRICITIES’ SAFETY TRAINING AND AUDITING PROGRAMS, WITH THE GOAL OF ENSURING MEMBER CITIES/REGIONAL CITIES ATTAIN AND MAINTAIN A COMPREHENSIVE, CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVING, AND COST-EFFECTIVE SAFETY PROGRAM. THIS POSITION WILL BE LOCATED IN RALEIGH, NC. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: • PROVIDE LEADERSHIP, DIRECTION, AND VISION TO THE SAFETY & TRAINING STAFF AND ELECTRICITIES’ MEMBER CITIES/REGIONAL CITIES TO ENSURE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES ARE MET AND RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES ARE FULFILLED IN PURSUIT OF ATTAINING AND MAINTAINING COMPREHENSIVE AND COST-EFFECTIVE SAFETY PROGRAMS FOR ALL MEMBERS. • DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT LONG-TERM PLANS TO CONTINUALLY IMPROVE THE SAFETY TRAINING PROGRAM TO REFLECT CURRENT INDUSTRY ISSUES AND LEVERAGE THE MOST EFFICIENT TRAINING METHODS AND TECHNOLOGIES FOR PROGRAM DEPLOYMENT. • MANAGE, DEVELOP, AND IMPLEMENT SAFETY PROGRAM GUIDELINES FOR MEMBER CITIES/REGIONAL CITIES AND ESTABLISH CRITERIA FOR MEASURING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SAFETY PROGRAMS, INCLUDING SAFETY PROGRAM AUDITS. • MANAGE THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF FORMAL SAFETY AND TRAINING SESSIONS, SCHOOLS, AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS FOR OPERATING UTILITY EMPLOYEES OF MEMBER CITIES/REGIONAL CITIES. THIS INCLUDES COLLABORATING WITH ELECTRICITIES’ LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT TEAM ON CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT. • WITH ASSISTANCE FROM STAFF, OVERSEE THE PROCESS FOR ACCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS FOR MEMBERS UPON REQUEST. • SERVE AS AN ADVISORY MEMBER TO THE ELECTRICITIES SAFETY & TRAINING TEAM AND THE NORTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC SYSTEMS (NCAMES) BOARD OF DIRECTORS. QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING: • A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN ENGINEERING, SAFETY OR EQUIVALENT WORK EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD OF LINEWORKER SAFETY AND TRAINING. • A MINIMUM OF TEN (10) YEARS OF ELECTRIC UTILITIES EXPERIENCE, WITH A SPECIFIC FOCUS ON ELECTRIC DISTRIBUTION OPERATIONS, MAINTENANCE, OR CONSTRUCTION. • A MINIMUM OF FIVE (5) YEARS OF SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE. • DEMONSTRATED RECORD OF PROVEN LEADERSHIP AND PEOPLE MANAGEMENT, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON LONG-TERM PLANNING AND SAFETY PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT. • STRONG WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF SAFE WORK PRACTICES AND REQUIRED TRAINING INVOLVED IN THE CONSTRUCTION, OPERATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF A HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRIC UTILITY SYSTEM. • STRONG WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF THE RULES/REGULATIONS APPLICABLE TO THE ELECTRIC UTILITY INDUSTRY, INCLUDING ANSI ASTM STANDARDS, OSHA REGULATIONS, OTHER APPLICATIONS.
