THE TOWN OF HUNTERSVILLE (POP. 60,000+) IS SEEKING QUALIFIED APPLICANTS TO BECOME ITS ASSISTANT PLANNING DIRECTOR. LOCATED JUST NORTH OF CHARLOTTE, HUNTERSVILLE HAS GROWN RAPIDLY OVER THE PAST TWO DECADES AND OFFERS A FAST-PACED ENVIRONMENT THAT INCLUDES UPDATING THE 2011 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND REDEVELOPMENT OF THE DOWNTOWN. IN ADDITION TO PLAYING AN ACTIVE ROLE WITH THOSE PROJECTS, THIS POSITION ASSISTS IN THE PLANNING, ORGANIZING AND DIRECTING OF ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS IN THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT. THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR SERVES A LEADING ROLE IN LAND USE AND TRANSPORTATION PLANNING, PROVIDING COORDINATED GUIDANCE AND REGULATION OF THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE TOWN AND RELATED WORK AS REQUIRED. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE BACHELOR’S DEGREE WITH COURSEWORK IN PLANNING, ARCHITECTURE OR RELATED FIELD AND 7-PLUS YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC SECTOR PLANNING INCLUDING SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE. A MASTER’S DEGREE AND AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PLANNERS (AICP) CERTIFICATION IS PREFERRED. STARTING SALARY RANGE: $68,028 – 88,096.
