PERFORMS DIFFICULT TECHNICAL WORK OVERSEEING AND PARTICIPATING IN POLICE SUPPORT FUNCTIONS IN RECORDS MANAGEMENT, CAD, TELECOMMUNICATIONS, EVIDENCE AND RENDERING OF ASSISTANCE TO THE PUBLIC; DOES RELATED WORK AS REQUIRED. * COORDINATES, SUPERVISES, REVIEWS AND PARTICIPATES IN THE DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITIES OF THE UNIT. * PLANS AND DIRECTS WORK OF ASSIGNED PERSONNEL. * ACTS AS A SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT ON CAD/RMS AND MAINTAINS THE DAILY OPERATION OF THOSE SYSTEMS. * ENSURES THAT DEPLOYMENTS OF NEW MODULES, SYSTEMS, AND UPGRADES ARE CARRIED OUT APPROPRIATELY. * COORDINATES WITH CAD/RMS VENDOR TO REPORT ISSUES AND TRACKS THEM TO VERIFY THEY ARE RESOLVED. * PROVIDES INSTRUCTION TO CAD/RMS USERS. * ATTENDS CAD/RMS SYSTEM USER GROUP MEETINGS AND RELEVANT TRAINING. * MAINTAINS AND PREPARES VARIOUS LOGS, FILES AND REPORTS. * PREPARES WORK SCHEDULES; CHECKS AND APPROVES TIMESHEETS; TRAINS NEW EMPLOYEES. * EVALUATES WORK PERFORMANCE OF EMPLOYEES. * CONDUCTS RESEARCH AND COMPILES DATA AND REPORTS AS REQUIRED. * PREPARES AND FILES VARIOUS TECHNICAL AND STATISTICAL TABLES AND REPORTS. * ASSISTS WITH THE PREPARATION OF DIVISION BUDGETS. * INVESTIGATES VIOLATIONS OF STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES ON A UNIT LEVEL. * OVERSEES D.C.I. TRAINING, TESTING AND RE-CERTIFICATIONS. * ASSISTS IN MAINTAINING THE EQUIPMENT USED BY UNIT; REQUEST REPAIRS AS NEEDED. * PROGRAMS 800MHZ RADIOS; EVALUATES OR REPAIRS RADIO EQUIPMENT; SUBMITS EQUIPMENT FOR REPAIRS WHEN NEEDED; MAINTAINS EQUIPMENT INVENTORIES. * PERFORMS RELATED TASKS AS REQUIRED. THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF APPLICABLE LAWS, ORDINANCES, AND DEPARTMENTAL RULES OF CONDUCT AND PROCEDURES; GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF EVIDENCE HANDLING POLICIES AND PRACTICES; GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE METHODS OF OPERATING THE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM; ABILITY TO ACCURATELY TRANSFER INFORMATION FROM VERBAL FORM TO WRITTEN FORM; KNOWLEDGE OF PUBLIC SAFETY COMPUTER AIDED DISPATCH (CAD)/RECORDS MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (RMS); GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF BUSINESS ENGLISH, SPELLING, AND GRAMMAR, ABILITY TO OBSERVE SITUATIONS ANALYTICALLY AND OBJECTIVELY AND RECORD THEM CLEARLY AND COMPLETELY; ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND AND CARRY OUT ORAL AND WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS; ABILITY TO DEAL COURTEOUSLY WITH THE PUBLIC UNDER STRESSFUL CONDITIONS AT TIMES; ABILITY TO OPERATE RADIO, TELECOMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT, COMPUTER TERMINAL, DATA ENTRY AND GENERAL OFFICE EQUIPMENT; ABILITY TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN EFFECTIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH ASSOCIATES AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE ANY COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE EQUIVALENT TO GRADUATION FROM AN ACCREDITED COMMUNITY COLLEGE WITH MAJOR COURSE WORK IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION OR RELATED FIELD AND CONSIDERABLE EXPERIENCE IN THE ASSIGNED AREA. EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH PUBLIC SAFETY COMPUTER AIDED DISPATCH (CAD) RECORDS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (RMS) OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN DCI CERTIFICATION. MAY REQUIRE POSSESSION OF DCI INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION.
