THE TOWN OF MORRISVILLE, NC IS SEEKING AN ASSISTANT TOWN MANAGER. THE IDEAL ASSISTANT TOWN MANAGER CANDIDATE WILL BE AN ANALYTICAL AND COLLABORATIVE PROBLEM SOLVER WHO ACHIEVES SUCCESS WITH AN EMPOWERING LEADERSHIP APPROACH, IS A STRATEGIC THINKER WITH A TRACK RECORD OF FACILITATING GOAL ACHIEVEMENT, THRIVES AMONG A LEADERSHIP TEAM WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS OF ITSELF AND OTHERS, KNOWS HOW TO PARTNER ACROSS ALL LEVELS FOR SUCCESS AND LIVES THE TOWN VALUES OF DEDICATION, INTEGRITY, COURTESY AND INNOVATION. THE POSITION IS OPEN DUE TO THE RETIREMENT OF THE CURRENT ASSISTANT TOWN MANAGER. ABOUT THE POSITION: REPORTING TO THE TOWN MANAGER, THE EXPERIENCE AND CREDENTIALS OF THE SUCCESSFUL ASSISTANT TOWN MANAGER CANDIDATE IS FOCUSED ON BREADTH OF EXPERIENCE AND OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP SKILLS. THE PORTFOLIO FOR THIS ASSISTANT TOWN MANAGER POSITION MAY VARY DEPENDING ON SKILL SETS BUT IDEALLY INCLUDES EXPERIENCE WITH CIP MANAGEMENT, TRANSPORTATION INITIATIVES, AND OPERATIONAL DEPARTMENTS SUCH AS PARKS AND RECREATION, PUBLIC WORKS AND PUBLIC SAFETY. A TRACK RECORD OF SUCCESSFUL CHANGE MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL. THE ASSISTANT TOWN MANAGER MUST BE ABLE TO LEAD MULTIPLE COMPLEX AND TIME CRITICAL PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES THROUGH CREATIVE PROBLEM-SOLVING AND SOLUTIONS-BASED OUTCOMES. RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE LEADING AND/OR SUPPORTING THE CAPITAL PROJECTS THROUGH VARIOUS STAGES WHILE ENSURING COLLABORATION ACROSS DEPARTMENTS AND COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS TO ACHIEVE POSITIVE RESULTS THAT ARE ALIGNED WITH STRATEGIC PRIORITIES. QUALIFICATIONS: THE SUCCESSFUL ATM CANDIDATE WILL HAVE A MINIMUM OF A BACHELOR’S DEGREE AND PROGRESSIVE EXPERIENCE IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT MANAGEMENT. A MASTER’S DEGREE ALONG WITH BREADTH OF EXPERIENCE WORKING IN AND SUPERVISING ACROSS A VARIETY OF DEPARTMENTS IS STRONGLY PREFERRED ALONG WITH FIVE OR MORE YEARS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE. PRIOR NORTH CAROLINA EXPERIENCE AS AN ASSISTANT TOWN MANAGER OR TOWN MANAGER IN A SMALL TO MEDIUM SIZE COMMUNITY IS HIGHLY DESIRABLE. THE SALARY RANGE FOR THE POSITION IS $108,000 - $173,000, WITH AN EXPECTED HIRING RANGE OF $125,000-$140,000, DEPENDING ON QUALIFICATIONS.
