GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK PERFORMS INTERMEDIATE TECHNICAL WORK FOR A VARIETY OF ENGINEERING, CONSTRUCTION AND RELATED PUBLIC WORKS ASSIGNMENTS. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE ASSISTING PUBLIC WORKS OPERATIONS, STORMWATER, AND CAPITAL PROJECTS STAFF; WORKS UNDER REGULAR SUPERVISION AND MUST BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THEIR ABILITY TO FOLLOW VERBAL AND WRITTEN DIRECTIONS, USE COMPUTERIZED INVENTORY SYSTEMS, READ/INTERPRET MAPS, PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, AND KEEP ACCURATE RECORDS. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (THE FOLLOWING TASKS ARE INTENDED ONLY AS ILLUSTRATIONS OF THE VARIOUS TYPES OF WORK PERFORMED. THE OMISSION OF SPECIFIC DUTIES DOES NOT EXCLUDE THEM FROM THE POSITION IF THE WORK IS SIMILAR, RELATED, OR A LOGICAL ASSIGNMENT TO THE POSITION.) REGULARLY USES AND REVIEWS A VARIETY OF DOCUMENTS, SUCH AS CIVIL ENGINEERING PLANS, PLOT MAPS, LEGAL DESCRIPTIONS AND UTILITY DATA, AND ENTERS REQUIRED DATA INTO DATABASES. SEARCHES LEGAL/PROPERTY RECORDS; NOTIFIES PROPERTY OWNERS OF PENDING CONSTRUCTION. UTILIZES SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS AND DEVICE(S) TO MANAGE WORKFLOW AND PERFORM AND DOCUMENT INSPECTIONS. ASSISTS WITH IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TOWN’S CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT AND OTHER PROJECTS; ASSISTANCE CAN INCLUDE RIGHT OF WAY ACQUISITION. PERFORMS TECHNICAL RESEARCH FOR PROPOSED PROJECTS. ENFORCE LOCAL/STATE/FEDERAL REGULATIONS, INDUSTRY STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS, AND SAFE CONSTRUCTION PRACTICES. INSPECTS THE TOWN’S MUNICIPAL SEPARATE STORM SEWER SYSTEM (MS4), INCLUDING STORMWATER CONTROL MEASURES AND HELPS IDENTIFY STORMWATER IMPROVEMENT/RETROFIT OPPORTUNITIES DEVELOPS AND MAINTAINS DATABASES, INCLUDING GIS, IN COORDINATION WITH OTHER STAFF; PREPARES COST ESTIMATES OF MAINTENANCE, REPAIR AND CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS. COORDINATES THE USE OF AVAILABLE EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS, AND STAFF TO BE EFFICIENT AND COST EFFECTIVE PROVIDES EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MAINTAINS GOOD COMMUNITY RELATIONS. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF: BASIC CONSTRUCTION AND CIVIL ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES, PRACTICES AND TECHNIQUES USED IN PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS INCLUDING TRANSPORTATION AND STORMWATER INFRASTRUCTURE AND FACILITIES; ABILITY TO INTERPRET CONSTRUCTION PLANS AND AS-BUILT DRAWINGS AND UTILIZE CURRENT FIELD AND OFFICE TECHNOLOGY, INCLUDING GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS); ABILITY TO READ TECHNICAL REPORTS AND TEST RESULTS; ABILITY TO RESEARCH AND CONVEY TECHNICAL DATA TO OTHERS; ABILITY TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN EFFECTIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH ASSOCIATES, VENDORS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC; CURRENT STORMWATER CONTROL MEASURES (SCM) MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION CERTIFICATION OR WILLINGNESS AND ABILITY TO OBTAIN.
