DUE TO THE RECENT RETIREMENT OF ITS POLICE CHIEF, THE TOWN OF STALLINGS, NORTH CAROLINA, OPERATING UNDER A COUNCIL-MANAGER FORM OF GOVERNMENT, IS SEEKING A POLICE CHIEF WHO IS VISIONARY AND HAS A DEMONSTRATED HISTORY OF INNOVATIVE LEADERSHIP. THE STALLINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS A LONG-STANDING REPUTATION AS A HIGHLY RESPONSIVE DEPARTMENT WITH STAFF WHO ARE AN ACTIVE PART OF THE COMMUNITY. RECOGNIZED FOR ITS LOW CRIME RATE AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, THE NEXT CHIEF WILL WORK TO MAINTAIN THE SENSE OF SAFETY CITIZENS EXPERIENCE, WHILE FACING PUBLIC SAFETY CHALLENGES THAT RESULT FROM LOCAL AND REGIONAL GROWTH ALONG A BUSY SUBURBAN CORRIDOR. POSITION DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES: THE STALLINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING QUALITY POLICE SERVICES, RESPONSIVE TO THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY. THEY DELIVER DEDICATED AND COMPASSIONATE ASSISTANCE BY PROMOTING PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE, COOPERATION AND LEADERSHIP. THE STALLINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT STRIVES TO ENHANCE ITS REPUTATION AND PRACTICE OF DELIVERING ON ITS CORE VALUES OF INTEGRITY, PARTNERSHIP, TEAMWORK, IMPARTIALITY, SERVICE, COURTESY, AND RESPONSIVENESS. REPORTING TO THE TOWN MANAGER, THE POLICE CHIEF IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PLANNING, DIRECTING, IMPLEMENTING, AND EVALUATING THE ACTIVITIES OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE POLICE CHIEF WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LEADING A DEPARTMENT IN A COMMUNITY THAT EXPECTS HIGH LEVELS OF SERVICE AND ENGAGEMENT. THE DEPARTMENT HAS A $2.56 MILLION BUDGET, 23 SWORN PERSONNEL, AND 3 SUPPORT PERSONNEL. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE A STRONG LEADER WHO WILL WORK WELL WITH THE TOWN’S MANAGEMENT TEAM, OTHER TOWN DEPARTMENTS, COMMUNITY MEMBERS, AND SURROUNDING LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, AND WILL BE EXPERIENCED AND CONFIDENT IN MANAGING ALL AREAS OF A FULL-SERVICE POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE CHIEF IS EXPECTED TO BE ACTIVELY ENGAGED BOTH INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY, INTERACTING WITH STAFF AT ALL LEVELS, TRUSTING THEM TO MANAGE INCIDENTS AND COLLABORATING WITH FELLOW DEPARTMENT HEADS, CITIZENS, AND PARTNERS IN MULTIPLE JURISDICTIONAL AGREEMENTS. QUALIFICATIONS: PREFER A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE, PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, OR OTHER RELEVANT FIELD, AND 10 YEARS OF PROGRESSIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPERIENCE ACROSS FUNCTIONAL AREAS SUCH AS PATROL, INTERNAL AFFAIRS, ADMINISTRATION, INVESTIGATIONS, ETC. TO INCLUDE FIVE (5) YEARS OF MANAGEMENT LEVEL EXPERIENCE AT THE RANK OF CAPTAIN OR HIGHER; OR ANY EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE THAT PROVIDES THE REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES OF A LAW ENFORCEMENT EXECUTIVE. INDIVIDUALS MUST HAVE CURRENT CERTIFICATION AS A LOCAL OR STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OR EQUIVALENT MILITARY LAW ENFORCEMENT MOS CERTIFICATION.
