HELP DESK TECHNICIAN PG 002 $32,240 - $50,375 THE NORTH CAROLINA LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES (NCLM) IS INITIATING THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS FOR A HELP DESK TECHNICIAN. THE PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION IS TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO END USERS BY ANSWERING AND RESOLVING USER TECHNICAL INQUIRIES, MAINTAINING HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE, ALLOCATING ASSETS AND EQUIPMENT. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY INSTALLING, CONFIGURING, REPAIRING AND SUPPORTING THE LEAGUE’S INFRASTRUCTURE WHICH INCLUDE WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS, COMPUTER HARDWARE, SOFTWARE, AND PERIPHERAL DEVICES. OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE PROVIDING TECHNICAL SUPPORT AT MEETINGS AND CONFERENCES, CREATING TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION AND PROVIDING TRAINING TO END USERS AS NECESSARY. POSITION DETAILS. PROVIDES HELPDESK SUPPORT BY RESPONDING TO USER INQUIRIES; ADDRESSING APPLICATION ISSUES, REPLACING USER HARDWARE, MAINTAINING AND SUPPORTING PRINT DEVICES. SETUP AND MAINTAIN TECHNOLOGY ASSETS, WHICH INCLUDES PC’S/LAPTOPS, MONITORS, PROJECTORS, PRINTERS, ETC. WORK CLOSELY WITH VENDORS AND OTHER TEAMS TO OBTAIN TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND TO PERMANENTLY SOLVE CHRONIC PROBLEMS. RESEARCHES AND IMPLEMENTS NEW TECHNOLOGIES BY CONTACTING VENDORS; TESTING NEW HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE; AND EVALUATING AND RECOMMENDING SOFTWARE. MAINTAINS COMPUTER SECURITY BY MONITORING SYSTEMS; AND PROVIDING RECOMMENDATIONS AND BEST PRACTICES. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS. WORK REQUIRES KNOWLEDGE OF A SPECIFIC VOCATIONAL, OR TECHNICAL NATURE THAT MAY BE OBTAINED WITH SIX-MONTHS/ONE YEAR OF ADVANCED STUDY OR TRAINING PAST THE HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY. BACHELOR’S DEGREE IS PREFERRED. CERTIFICATE AND/OR ANOTHER EQUIVALENCY EXPERIENCE WILL BE CONSIDERED.  SOLID VERBAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS WITH THE ABILITY TO CLEARLY COMMUNICATE TO ALL LEVELS OF THE ORGANIZATION. COMFORTABLE PROVIDING TECHNICAL SUPPORT VIA ONSITE, TELEPHONE AND REMOTE-CONTROL DESKTOP. ABILITY TO INDEPENDENTLY RESOLVE ROUTINE AND SOME NON-ROUTINE PROBLEMS. ABILITY TO SOLVE PROBLEMS AND PERFORM DIAGNOSTICS ON SOFTWARE AND/OR HARDWARE. ABILITY TO GET TO AN UNDERSTANDING OF CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS AND MANAGE OR SET PROPER EXPECTATIONS. ABILITY TO MANAGE TASKS AND MEET SCHEDULES; ABILITY TO WRITE TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION THAT IS EASILY UNDERSTOOD BY STAFF AND CUSTOMERS. FAMILIAR WITH ALL MICROSOFT OFFICE APPLICATIONS INCLUDING WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, OUTLOOK.  EXPERIENCE WITH WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS. ABILITY TO INTEGRATE AS A CROSS-FUNCTIONAL, TEAM PLAYER IN A FAST-PACED ENVIRONMENT WHERE ALL INFORMATION IS SHARED. SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSE REQUIRED. VALID CLASS C DRIVER'S LICENSE. THIS IS AN OFFICE-BASED POSITION LOCATED IN RALEIGH, NC., AND REPORTS TO THE NCLM DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY. HOW TO APPLY.
