CATAWBA COUNTY HUMAN RESOURCES IS RECRUITING A HIGHLY RESPONSIBLE AND EXPERIENCED RISK MANAGER TO JOIN OUR TEAM. WE ARE SEEKING A DYNAMIC PROFESSIONAL WITH OUTSTANDING COMMUNICATION, COLLABORATION, AND NEGOTIATION SKILLS, TO FILL A KEY ROLE IN OUR ORGANIZATION. THE RISK MANAGER PROVIDES STRATEGIC PLANNING, OVERSIGHT AND ADMINISTRATION RELATED TO RISK, LOSS CONTROL, SAFETY AND WORKERS’ COMPENSATION. RESPONSIBILITIES: • ADMINISTRATION OF ALL LINES OF PROPERTY AND LIABILITY INSURANCE, INCLUDING PROCUREMENT OF INSURANCE • ADMINISTRATION OF WORKERS COMPENSATION PROGRAM, INCLUDING PROCUREMENT OF INSURANCE AND ASSISTING WITH NEGOTIATIONS RELATED TO CLAIM SETTLEMENTS • SERVES AS LIAISON WITH THIRD PARTY ADMINISTRATORS (TPA) FOR SAFETY AND RISK PROGRAMS • DEVELOPS AND OVERSEES SAFETY PROGRAMS, ENSURING COMPLIANCE WITH OSHA REQUIREMENTS, WORKS WITH SAFETY COMMITTEES, AND MAINTAINS RELATED DOCUMENTATION, FILES, AND RECORDS • REVIEWS COUNTY CONTRACTS PROVIDING RISK ASSESSMENT, MAKING RECOMMENDATIONS AND COLLABORATING WITH OTHER PARTIES AS NEEDED • PROVIDES OR COORDINATES TRAININGS ON LAWS, POLICIES, AND PROCEDURES RELATED TO HEALTH, SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT • COORDINATION AND OVERSIGHT OF RANDOM AND POST-ACCIDENT DRUG TESTING • GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COUNTY’S RISK AND SAFETY PROGRAMS, INCLUDING SUPERVISORY AND BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS: • MASTER’S DEGREE IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, INDUSTRIAL SAFETY OR A RELATED FIELD AND 2 YEARS OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND ADMINISTRATION OF RISK MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS, INCLUDING 1 YEAR OF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (PREFER EXPERIENCE IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR); OR • BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN FINANCE, RISK MANAGEMENT & INSURANCE, PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, OR A RELATED FIELD AND 3 YEARS OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND ADMINISTRATION OF RISK MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS, INCLUDING 1 YEAR OF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (PREFER EXPERIENCE IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR) ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: • KNOWLEDGE OF RISK MANAGEMENT, WORKERS’ COMPENSATION, OSHA REGULATIONS, AND HUMAN RESOURCES LAWS • EXCELLENT ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS WITH A COMFORT LEVEL IN SPEAKING AND TRAINING IN FRONT OF SMALL AND LARGER GROUPS • OUTSTANDING INTERPERSONAL AND CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS WITH ABILITY TO WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CUSTOMERS • EFFECTIVE CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND NEGOTIATION SKILLS • STRONG ANALYTICAL ABILITY AND REASONING SKILLS • EXCELLENT TIME MANAGEMENT, ORGANIZATIONAL, AND MULTI-TASKING SKILLS • A VALID NC DRIVER’S LICENSE WITH A SAFE DRIVING RECORD • ABILITY TO OBTAIN NC LABOR GENERAL INDUSTRY 30-HOUR COURSE CERTIFICATION WITHIN 12 MONTHS • ABILITY TO OBTAIN INSURANCE INSTITUTE OF AMERICA ASSOCIATE IN RISK MANAGEMENT FOR PUBLIC ENTITIES WITHIN 24 MONTHS • THIS IS CONSIDERED LIGHT WORK; MAY LIFT UP TO 30 POUNDS TO TRANSPORT TRAINING, RISK MANAGEMENT, OR SAFETY SUPPLIES.  APPLY ON LINE AT HTTP://WWW.CATAWBACOUNTYNC.GOV/COUNTY-SERVICES/HUMAN-RESOURCES/ ON OR BEFORE THE POSTED CLOSING DATE.
