PERFORMS ADMINISTRATIVE, MANAGERIAL, AND LEADERSHIP ROLES IN OVERSEEING THE CURRENT AND LONG-RANGE PLANNING AND CODE ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITIES FOR THE TOWN OF INDIAN TRAIL. THE PLANNING DIRECTOR WILL ALSO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CULTIVATING EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH VARIOUS COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS SUCH AS RESIDENTS, COMMUNITY GROUPS, BUSINESS OWNERS, DEVELOPERS/CONTRACTORS, AND OTHER GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATIONS. THE PLANNING DIRECTOR (OR HIS/HER DESIGNEE) SERVES AS THE LIAISON FOR THE PLANNING BOARD, BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT, AND THE TREE BOARD. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: GUIDING STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES; DEVELOPING SHORT AND LONG-RANGE GOALS, OBJECTIVES, POLICIES, AND PRIORITIES FOR DEPARTMENT FUNCTIONS AND PROGRAMS DEVELOPING AND ADMINISTERING THE ANNUAL DEPARTMENT BUDGET LEADING DEPARTMENT STAFF AND HELPING FACILITATE THEIR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH MAKING RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE TOWN MANAGER AND/OR TOWN COUNCIL, AS WELL AS PROVIDING TECHNICAL ADVICE AND COLLABORATIVE SERVICES TO OTHER DEPARTMENTS OVERSEEING IMPLEMENTATION OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND OTHER ADOPTED PLANS RESPONSIBLE FOR MANAGING THE LAND DEVELOPMENT PROCESS IN AN EFFICIENT MANNER INCLUDING SITE PLAN AND SUBDIVISION REVIEW, ISSUANCE OF MINOR ZONING PERMITS, OVERALL UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE (UDO) ADMINISTRATION, AND SITE INSPECTION ACTIVITIES RESPONSIBLE FOR MANAGING THE CODE ENFORCEMENT PROCESS IN A FAIR AND BALANCED MANNER FOR COMPLIANCE WITH NUISANCE, ANIMAL CONTROL, AND UDO STANDARDS SERVES AS THE LIAISON TO THE PLANNING BOARD, BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT AND THE TREE BOARD RESPONSIBLE FOR BUILDING EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE COMMUNITY TO INCLUDE RESIDENTS, BUSINESS OWNERS, COMMUNITY GROUPS, DEVELOPERS/CONTRACTORS, AND OTHER GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS MONITORS FEDERAL, STATE, AND REGIONAL LAWS OR POLICIES THAT AFFECT GROWTH AND/OR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IN INDIAN TRAIL PROVIDES MANAGERIAL OVERSIGHT OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ACCOUNTS PAYABLE ACTIVITIES. OVERSEES PERSONNEL FUNCTIONS; ENSURES DEPARTMENT OPERATES EFFICIENTLY AND THAT DIRECTED WORK IS COMPLETED; PUBLIC COMPLAINTS ARE ADDRESSED PERFORMS SELECTION, PROMOTION, TRAINING, COACHING, EVALUATION OF WORK AND DISCIPLINING OF DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL ACCORDING TO TOWN POLICIES AND KEEPING TOWN MANAGER INFORMED; SETS PRIORITIES AND DEADLINES; PROVIDE GUIDANCE AND DIRECTION; AND ENSURES PROPER TRAINING INCLUDING ALL SAFETY REQUIRED TRAINING; TAKES APPROPRIATE DISCIPLINARY AND DISMISSAL ACTIONS PERFORMS OTHER RELATED WORK AS REQUIRED BY THE TOWN MANAGER SALARY RANGE: $72,242 - $117,393 TO APPLY PLEASE VISIT WWW.INDIANTRAIL.ORG AND COMPLETE AND APPLICATION.
