•SUPERVISES AND PARTICIPATES IN THE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF STREETS, STORM DRAINAGE, ERECTION OF STREET SIGNS, MAINTENANCE OF AND RIGHTS-OF-WAY AND OTHER PUBLIC GROUNDS, AND OTHER GENERAL PUBLIC WORKS MAINTENANCE. •COORDINATES THE USE OF AVAILABLE EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS AND STAFF TO OBTAIN MAXIMUM EFFECTIVENESS AND ECONOMY; MAY RESPOND TO CITIZEN REQUESTS AND COMPLAINTS. •PARTICIPATES IN THE TRAINING, SAFETY, AND PERFORMANCE COACHING OF DIVISION EMPLOYEES; INSURES APPLICATION OF SAFETY REGULATIONS; PROVIDES INPUT INTO EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS. •OPERATES HEAVY CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL IN TIGHT PLACES REQUIRING CARE AND SKILL. •SUPERVISES OPERATION OF OR OPERATES DUMP TRUCKS TO HAUL DIRT, GRAVEL, AND EQUIPMENT; OPERATES LOADERS; OPERATES BACKHOES TO LOAD MATERIALS; OPERATES LEAF TRUCK TO PICK UP PILES OF LEAVES; OPERATES STREET SWEEPER TO CLEAN STREETS; OPERATES DUMP TRUCK TO PUSH SNOW OR SHOVELS SNOW FROM SIDEWALKS OR OTHER AREAS; OPERATES A VARIETY OF OTHER VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT INCLUDING LINE TRUCK, BUCKET TRUCK, VAC TRUCK, BULLDOZER, EXCAVATOR, SAWS, ETC. •COMPLETES WORK ORDERS; INSURES THAT CREWS TAKE NECESSARY MATERIALS TO WORK SITES. SUPERVISES AND PARTICIPATES IN SNOW OR ICE REMOVAL. •CONSIDERABLE KNOWLEDGE OF THE PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF CONSTRUCTION, REPAIR, AND MAINTENANCE OF STREETS, SIDEWALKS, STORM DRAINAGE, AND RELATED FACILITIES. •CONSIDERABLE KNOWLEDGE OF THE USE OF RELATED EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS. THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF THE HAZARDS AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS OF THE WORK. •SOME KNOWLEDGE OF RELATED ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS AND RELATED ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS, INCLUDING PROPERTIES OF ASPHALT, CONCRETE AND SOIL. •WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF EFFECTIVE SUPERVISORY PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES AND ORGANIZATIONAL PERSONNEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. •ABILITY TO READ PLANS MAPS, AND DRAWINGS AND TO SET GRADE AND FALL ON PROJECTS. •ABILITY TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN EFFECTIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH SUPERVISORS, PEERS, SUBORDINATES AND CITIZENS. •ABILITY TO MAINTAIN AND PREPARE ACCURATE RECORDS. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE BASIC LIFE FUNCTIONS OF CLIMBING, BALANCING, STOOPING, KNEELING, CROUCHING, REACHING, STANDING, WALKING, LIFTING, PUSHING, PULLING, FINGERING, GRASPING, TALKING, AND HEARING. MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM HEAVY WORK EXERTING UP TO 100 POUNDS OF FORCE OCCASIONALLY, AND/OR UP TO 50 POUNDS OF FORCE FREQUENTLY, AND/OR UP TO 20 POUNDS OF FORCE CONSTANTLY TO MOVE OBJECTS. MUST POSSESS THE VISUAL ACUITY TO OPERATE ASSIGNED TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT, PERFORM VISUAL INSPECTIONS, READ MAPS AND DRAWING AS NEEDED, DISTINGUISH DETAILS AND DIFFERENCES IN QUALITY AS WELL AS FOR SAFETY, READ RECORDS OR INSTRUCTIONS AND TO READ AND PREPARE RECORDS. DESIRABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE GRADUATION FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND CONSIDERABLE EXPERIENCE IN STREET CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE, AND REPAIR, INCLUDING HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATION EXPERIENCE AND SOME SUPERVISORY OR LEAD WORKER EXPERIENCE; OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.
