THE ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THIS POSITION ARE ENGINEERING WORK IN PLANNING, DESIGNING AND REVIEWING THE COMPONENTS OF THE CITY'S STORM WATER SYSTEM AND REGULATORY OVERSIGHT OF DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS FOR COMPLIANCE WITH CITY REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS RELATING TO STORM WATER MANAGEMENT, ROADWAY CONSTRUCTION AND EROSION CONTROL UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING. THIS IS A KEY MANAGEMENT POSITION AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COORDINATION OF DEPARTMENT STAFF ENGAGED IN ASSIGNED AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY. THE WORK REQUIRES EVALUATING DEVELOPMENT PLANS FOR COMPLIANCE WITH CITY AND STATE STORM WATER AND EROSION CONTROL REQUIREMENTS; OVERSIGHT OF CONSTRUCTION INSPECTIONS; PREPARATION OF HYDRAULIC ANALYSIS AND OTHER ENGINEERING STUDIES TO EVALUATES ALTERNATIVES, AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE STORM WATER CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT NEEDS; ANALYZING CONSTRUCTION COST ESTIMATES, PROPOSALS, QUOTATIONS, AND BIDS FOR CITY PROJECTS; DESIGN WORK SUCH AS PREPARATION AND OVERSIGHT OF ENGINEERING DRAWINGS, DATA RESEARCH, COMPUTATIONS, COST ESTIMATES, PREPARATION OF SPECIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL REPORTS AND SCHEDULES FOR CITY PROJECTS. FOR THE MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT, "EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE" IS DEFINED AS NORTH CAROLINA FUNDAMENTALS OF ENGINEERING CERTIFICATION (FE) OR NORTH CAROLINA LICENSURE AS A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER (PE). BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN AN APPLICABLE FIELD OF ENGINEERING FROM AN APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTION; OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: MUST HAVE AND MAINTAIN A VALID NORTH CAROLINA DRIVER'S LICENSE IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, APPLICANTS MUST ATTACH A TRANSCRIPT (OFFICIAL OR UNOFFICIAL) TO THE APPLICATION. SALARY INFORMATION: STORMWATER ENGINEER I: $54,771 - $82,157; STORMWATER ENGINEER II: $60,457 - $90,686 NOTE: SALARY IS CONTINGENT UPON EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND BUDGETARY FACTORS. THIS POSTING IS FOR THE STORM WATER ENGINEER II LEVEL.
