TOWN MANAGER – TOWN OF LAUREL PARK, NORTH CAROLINA TOWN OF LAUREL PARK (POPULATION 2,260) SEEKS WELL QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR THE TOWN MANAGER POSITION. LAUREL PARK IS LOCATED AT THE SOUTHERN EDGE OF THE BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS, JUST WEST OF THE CITY OF HENDERSONVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA AND 26 MILES FROM ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA. THE TOWN OF LAUREL PARK OPERATES UNDER A COUNCIL-MANAGER SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT WITH THE TOWN MANAGER BEING APPOINTED BY AND WORKS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE MAYOR AND FOUR-MEMBER ELECTED BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS. GENERAL FUND BUDGET OF $2.8 MILLION, WATER & SEWER FUND $480 THOUSAND. TOWN PROVIDES ADMINISTRATION, POLICE, PUBLIC WORKS, PLANNING AND ZONING SERVICES; 19 FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES, PLUS PART-TIME AND SEASONAL EMPLOYEES. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL ARE LOOKING FOR A STRONG, EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONAL MANAGER WHO IS COMFORTABLE WORKING WITH PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE OUTSTANDING COMMUNICATION SKILLS, BE A STRONG LEADER WHO IS AMBITIOUS, INSPIRATIONAL AND UNDERSTANDS THE NEED TO KEEP THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL EQUALLY WELL-INFORMED, READILY SHARING INFORMATION AND PROMOTING TRANSPARENCY. THE MANAGER SHOULD BE SOMEONE WHO WILL REPRESENT THE TOWN, HAVE AN UNTARNISHED INTEGRITY WITH A PERSONAL WORK ETHIC, MAINTAIN AN OPEN-DOOR POLICY, ENJOY COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND BECOME WELL-KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRES A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN PUBLIC OR BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION OR OTHER RELEVANT FIELD; MASTER’S DEGREE AND CREDENTIALED ICMA MANAGER IS PREFERRED. CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST 5 YEARS OF PROGRESSIVELY RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT OR BUSINESS; EXPERIENCE AS A LOCAL GOVERNMENT MANAGER, ASSISTANT MANAGER OR DEPARTMENT HEAD IS PREFERRED. EXPERIENCE IN NORTH CAROLINA MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OR IN COMPARABLE COMMUNITIES IS A PLUS. RESIDENCY WITHIN THE TOWN LIMITS IS PREFERRED.
