Advancing Advocacy: In Session
Monday, January 30, 2023
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Location: Virtual
The North Carolina General Assembly is coming back to town, and the 2023 legislative session is likely to provide more than a few fireworks, including some sparks that will shower down among cities and towns. Housing affordability, local land-use planning authority and development rules, transportation funding and law enforcement staffing are all likely to be big parts of the discussions rolling through Raleigh.

To be ready, NCLM’s Government Affairs staff will be hosting a series of our virtual Advancing Advocacy meetings that we are calling “In Session.” Join us Monday, Jan. 30 at 3 p.m., for the first of three of these virtual sessions, with the others to follow in subsequent weeks at the same time.

As in the past, we will discuss expected policy proposals in areas affecting cities and towns, and strategies to respond to them. The Government Affairs staff will also review the Legislative Goals recently approved by NCLM members, the political landscape at the General Assembly and how the 2022 elections may have shifted the terrain, and changes in legislative and committee leadership posts that could affect cities and towns.

Working as one, we can effectively respond to the policy challenges ahead and let state legislators understand local needs.

So please join us for these important virtual sessions. You can participate by registering here, and you will receive your confirmation email and instructions on how to link in to this virtual event on Jan. 30. As always, it is free of charge.
