Prior to the beginning of a legislative biennium, the
League’s member cities and towns work together to develop a list of Municipal
Advocacy Goals that guide the League’s advocacy and lobbying efforts at the
state and federal level. This member-driven policy development process results
in policy recommendations for the League’s Core Municipal Principles and
Municipal Advocacy Goals that are voted on by the League’s Board of Directors.
The League’s Public and Government Affairs staff relies upon the member-driven process and subsequently-approved policies for direction in lobbying efforts at the NC General Assembly, before State Boards and Commissions, and at the federal level.
Be sure that your voice is heard during this process by joining a
Policy Committee and/or attending the biennial
Municipal Advocacy Goals Conference.
