Risk Control Consultant (2 Positions) - SG 07:  $64,800-$97,200. The purpose of this position is to provide professional consulting services in risk management and loss control related issues to municipalities. This is accomplished by advising municipal officials of programs to minimize losses, analyzing exposures for potential losses, overseeing employee injury and illness statistics, working closely with staff and members to advise and assist in developing and implementing risk management solutions, controlling property and liability exposure, investigating and analyzing specific incidents. Other duties include analyzing complex databases to identify loss trends, developing corrective action plans, preparing analysis reports and executive summaries for senior level management,  creating various presentations, conducting training seminars and workshops, responding to complaints or citations issued by regulatory organizations, researching and comprehending applicable regulations, best practices and industry standards, attending professional conferences and seminars, performing administrative duties, and monitoring current loss status. Responsibilities/Requirements: Provide professional consulting services in risk management and loss control related issues to municipalities by advising municipal officials of programs to minimize losses; analyzing exposures for potential losses; overseeing employee injury and illness statistics; advising and assisting in developing and implementing risk management; controlling property and liability exposure; and investigating and analyzing specific incidents. Analyzes workers compensation exposures by conducting facility and departmental safety hazard assessments and hazard identification; and determining loss run data to identify loss trends, risk exposures, and high loss claims. Performs risk management for Property and Liability exposures by conducting building assessments for aged buildings; conducting surveys and assessments of public access; reviewing members’ contractual agreements for liability weaknesses; and completing assigned projects. Investigates specific incidents for recommendations and possible changes in workplace by responding to claims’ request; determining cause of loss and corrective actions as applicable; and providing written reports. Develops and presents training seminars by building presentations; using technology; scheduling and coordinating locations, and facilities; and conducting training. Oversees meetings and administrative duties by providing monthly reports; maintaining home office work files for each member; preparing and updating annual performance work plans; attending organizational meetings; and participating in professional development programs and organizations. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school. Position requires basic understanding of the various lines of insurance coverage frequently used by municipalities. Candidate must have advanced knowledge of Office products including Word, Excel, and Power Point and excellent writing skills. 

Must have knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA and other industry standards related to risk control topics. Prefer ARM or CSP designations. Requires residence in assigned work area. Requires regular travel within the state of North Carolina and occasional overnight stays. Role is home based (within North Carolina – Central South or Eastern) position. Approximately 30 – 40 percent travel is required throughout the state.  League vehicle will be provided and subject to all League and IRS guidelines. Skills/Certifications/License Required: Valid Class C Driver's License.  Prefer ARM or CSP designations. This position reports to the Director of Risk Control Services.
