County Attorney – Rockingham. Salary: Depends on Qualifications. Closing Date: Continuous. Performs complex professional work planning, supervising and directing the staff and activities of the County Attorney's office, serving as legal advisor to the Board of Commissioners, County Administration and County agencies, overseeing the preparation and maintenance of legal records and files, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work involves setting policies and goals under the direction of the Board of Commissioners. Departmental supervision is exercised over all personnel within the department. Examples of Duties: Serves as legal counsel to the Board of Commissioners and attends regular and special board meetings. Provides legal guidance and advice to County departments, boards and agencies (e.g. Planning Board, 911 Board, Health and Human Services and Elections). Litigates claims on behalf of the County. Enforce codes and provide regulatory compliance support functions. Prepares, drafts and reviews contracts or other legal documents for agencies within the County. Coordinates and oversees the activities of outside legal counsel. Attends meetings as required. Physical Requirements: This work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands, frequently requires repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking and reaching with hands and arms; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).Minimum Qualifications: Juris Doctorate degree and extensive experience in practicing municipal law, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
