Electric Distribution Superintendent






New Bern - Electric Distribution Superintendent. Performs difficult professional and administrative work supervising the construction, maintenance and repair of electric transmission and distribution lines and related installations. Plans, organizes, supervises and directs workers engaged in the construction, installation, repair and maintenance of overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines. Checks transmission and distribution systems and determines future needs; determines needs for tree trimming, etc. Ensures safety precautions for crews and the public are enforced. Oversees and arranges division training. Sketches work orders detailing pole locations, line additions/removals, security light placement, street light additions and service locations for new customers; prepares and updates maps, sketches and drawings of distribution system. Assists with long and short range planning related to the electrical distribution system; confers with engineers on methods to modernize system. Assists with recruitment and selection activities; evaluates performance of direct reports and reviews evaluations prepared by subordinate supervisors. Prepares division budget and monitors expenditures; prepares specifications for equipment purchases; purchases division tools, uniforms and equipment. Supervises division fleet and equipment maintenance and performs related tasks as required. Comprehensive knowledge of practices, methods, equipment and tools used in electric line construction, maintenance and repair work; comprehensive knowledge of occupational hazards connected with the work and of the necessary safety precautions; comprehensive knowledge of the electrical system, facilities and areas served; ability to plan and supervise the work of crews; ability to use multiple computer systems; thorough knowledge of Excel and MSWord; ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, associates and the general public. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in electrical engineering or related field and extensive experience in the construction and repair of electrical system, including considerable supervisory experience. Salary range: $66,406 - $108,076. Excellent benefits.
