Description

The Town of Wake Forest Community Development Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Planner II.  This is a full-time position, which is primarily responsible for advanced technical and professional duties to support the activities of the Development Services Division pertaining to the land use regulation, development, and zoning.  Under limited supervision, the successful candidate will perform advanced professional planning work involving major program and project responsibilities. Work involves performing independent work in the review of residential and non-residential subdivision/site plan reviews; preparation of presentations for the Planning Board and Board of Commissioners; meeting with engineers, developers, members of the community, and other design professionals; answering daily phone calls regarding land use and zoning; and performing special assignments.  The successful candidate must be able to exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the development community, property owners and the general public.  The Development Services Manager supervises work. Education and Experience: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in urban or regional planning, geography, landscape architecture, or closely related field with a moderate level of professional experience in public sector planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession or ability to obtain AICP certification within one year is preferred.  Hours of work: Monday- Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm. The Town offers an excellent benefits package.
